In 1955, V. Rangaswamy Naidu, R. Venkataswamy Naidu and P. R. Ramakrishnan established the V. Rangaswamy Naidu Trust. The trust established the institute in 1956. It is an autonomous college which is affiliated to Anna University and supported by the government. The engineering college created the departments of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, electronics & communication engineering, computer science & engineering, chemical engineering, information technology, computer applications, mathematics, computing, physics, chemistry and humanities.

It offers BTech degree in chemical engineering and information technology, BE degree in electronics & communication, computer science & engineering, civil, mechanical, and electrical & electronics, ME degree in construction management, heat power engineering, computer methods and application in structural engineering, environmental engineering and management, advanced manufacturing technology, embedded and real-time system, applied electronics, computer science and engineering, communication engineering, MSc in software systems, data science, decision and computing science, master’s in computer applications and doctoral degree programmes. The course fee for the MSc programmes is Rs 65,500 for one semester and the admission fee is Rs 4,800. The unaided course fee for MCA degree is Rs 55,500.

CIT Coimbatore Admission Process

The college sets up minimum eligibility criteria for all the courses. On fulfilling the criteria, application form can be filled up by the candidates. For taking admission into M.Sc. programs, candidates have to secure qualifying marks in the entrance test conducted by the college. The examination is held at centres located in the following places- Coimbatore, Bangalore, Chennai, Trichy, Madurai and Hyderabad. The selected candidates have to appear for an interview. The marks obtained by the candidates in the HSC board exam are also considered while preparing the final merit list.
