Deakin University Admission Process

  • Application Form: International students can apply online, offline or through their country specific agents.
  • The students belonging to Australia and/or pursuing an International Baccalaureate Diploma can apply through the VTAC Application.
  • Common Requirements: Transcripts, Higher Secondary Certificate and, work experience with bachelor’s degree/diploma (for PG).
  • Application Fee: AUD 55
  • Additional Requirements: Copy of passport, financial statement, identity declaration and accommodation declaration with signatures.
  • Application Deadline: according to trimester are: Trimester 1: February 17, 2019.
  • Malaysian students, English Proficiency Exam of SPM is valid for five years before admission to the university.

Deakin University Admission Deadlines

Deakin University has three trimesters in which admissions are carried out. While direct admissions to Deakin can be made at any time, VTAC – Victorian Tertiary Admissions Center accepts applications from August through to November every year.

Also, note that these are general deadlines, not all courses are open at each admission intake.

Deakin University Undergraduate Admissions

Deakin University offers 100 UG programs in the field of Education, Civil Engineering, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Health Sciences, Nutrition Science, Arts, Criminology, International Studies and Laws. To apply for admission international applicants have to fulfil the following requirements -

Admission requirements

  • Official copies of secondary school transcripts showing courses taken throughout the year and grades received. Translations of the same are also required if they are not in English.
  • Award Certificates
  • Formal Identity Papers (your passport)
  • A CV and personal statement
  • Evidence of English proficiency if you are a non-native English-speaking student. The university applies 5 bands (Bands A-E) for English language criteria for admission to all courses.

English Proficiency Requirements

This is one of the additional requirements that international students have to meet to apply. Official score reports of either TOEFL or IELTS are required as a proof of English proficiency for an applicant who does not come from a country with English as its first language.

Visa requirements for International students

Once selected, you would be required to submit an acceptance fee to receive a COE (Confirmation of Enrolment) which you will need to apply for a student visa.

  • Apply for Australian Student VISA subclass 500, six weeks before the commencement of classes.
  • Arrange the documents
  • Apply online for the VISA along with the documents
  • Receive VISA decision along with the following details:
    • your visa grant number
    • the date your visa expires
    • your visa conditions
  • Keep a copy of all the documents while arriving in Australia
