Anna University was founded on September 4, 1978 and was named after Tamil Nadu's former Chief Minister Dr C.N. Annadurai.

The state university offers high-quality education in the fields of technology, engineering, applied sciences and architecture. It is located in the southern part of Chennai and has three additional regional campuses in Madurai, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore. The educational institution consists of 13 constituent colleges and eight faculties. Also, 593 colleges are affiliated to it. Anna University Admission Process

Controller of Examination (COE) administers the entire admission process of Anna University. All the decisions regarding counselling, seat allotment and fee payment are in the hands of the COE.

• To apply for admission at the university, aspirants will have to fill and submit the application form.
• Admission to the majority of university's programmes, including undergraduate engineering courses, is granted on the basis of the score obtained by the candidate in the higher secondary exam.
• Those seeking admission in postgraduate engineering courses will be judged as per their performance in GATE or TANCET

• The university holds an entrance exam for giving admission to MPhil and MSc courses.
• Also, for enrolling in a PhD programme, a candidate will have to clear a written entrance test followed by a personal interview.

Anna University Placements and Salary Trends

The Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC) in Anna University focuses on enhancing the employability of the students and providing them with excellent internships and placements. Over 200 domestic and international companies visit the campus to recruit the university's talented and qualified students every year.

The CUIC also organises Tamil Nadu State Level Placement Programme (TNSLPP) to benefit students of all the colleges affiliated to the university. It has a great placement track record, promising high ROI. In the placement season of 2015-16, 1,256 undergraduate students and 372 postgraduate students got placed in various well-reputed companies. 132 companies visited the campus in the same season and the students' secured packages ranging from 3.25 lacs annually to 24 lacs annually.
