Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was established on 1st May 1948 through the merger of several defence medical units on the initiative of the BC Roy Committee. Presently, it is counted amongst India's premier medical institutions and holds the status of a centre of excellence for education and research. Situated in Pune, the college is administered by the country's armed forces. It offers postgraduate, undergraduate and postgraduate diploma programmes in the fields like nursing, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry and paramedics. The institution holds the approval of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and affiliation of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

AFMC Admission Process

Candidates interested in getting admission at AFMC will be required to apply for admission by registering on DGHS website within the registration window announced by DGHS. Admission to all the programmes is given on the basis of entrance test and/or national eligibility, followed by an interview conducted by the college.

Only 150 students including 30 girls, 115 boys and 5 NRIs are admitted to the MMBS programme. To obtain admission to the programme, applicants are required to qualify the NEET-UG exam held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). After the closing of the registration window, candidates are shortlisted according to their score in the NEET-UG. Shortlisted candidates are called to the college for the screening process. This process consists of Test of Logic and Reasoning (ToELR), Test of English Language, Psychological Assessment Test (PAT) and a comprehension test followed by a medical examination and interview. Final selections are made on the basis of the candidate's NEET-UG score and their performance in the screening process.
