The university has two campuses, the central campus and the other is Jnana Bharathi campus. In 1965, the university began Honour's courses in the field of chemistry, botany, geology, economics, English, mathematics, zoology, and Kannada. Also, the university was ranked 15th in top universities in India by The Week.
Qualifying exams
For admission to undergraduate programmes, candidates must have passed 12th from a recognised board. The candidates are selected according to their merit in the qualifying exam. For admission to postgraduate programmes, a candidate must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 40-50% aggregate. Notably, cut-off may differ as per the course. For LLM and MPEd, an entrance exam is conducted by the college. The candidates are supposed to qualify the exam with good rankings in order to get admitted to the college. The cut-off is set by the admission authority of the institution.
