About Gargi College, Delhi University

Gargi College, Delhi University was established in the year 1967. The college was named after an enlightened woman named Gargi, who was an intelligent and bold person. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad of the Vedic Age, she is portrayed as a person with an intellectual potential who continues to manifest themselves in a quest of ever-widening fields of knowledge.

Gargi College Delhi was awarded the prestigious College with a Potential for Excellence grant, by the University Grants Commission in the year 2004-2005. Gargi College had its first cycle of assessment by NAAC and the college scored ‘A’ grade in 2016.

Gargi College Admissions are done through the walk-in-test process. The institute offers various courses in Arts, Commerce, Science, and Education. It has across 20 undergraduate and 2 postgraduate courses and aims at providing quality education to all the students. The College also arranges inter-disciplinary seminars at the national level every year. 

Gargi College, Delhi University Infrastructure:

Gargi College Delhi provides quality infrastructure with well-equipped classrooms, laboratories and many more facilities for the women. Infrastructure facilities provided by Gargi College are mentioned below: 

• Auditorium: The auditorium block is fully air-conditioned with solar light installation, and it has a seating capacity of about 750.

• Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility: Gargi College is one of the two colleges and the only Women's college in the University of Delhi to have BIF (Bioinformatics Infrastructure Facility). Students pursuing undergraduate in any discipline of science can implement BIF.

• Bookstore: The Bookshop offers an attractive discount on stocked curriculum books of various courses and stationery products. 

• Computer Laboratories: The college has 3 computer laboratories consisting of 110 computers with wi-fi connectivity.

• Food Court: The food court provides good quality meals.

• Learning Resource Centre: The library has about 74027 books, 217 CDs, 10 newspapers, and 55 journals/magazines. The library also includes the Reference Sources, Bibliographic Sources, Statistical Sources, and Full-Text Sources.

• Laboratories: The college has Botany, Chemistry, Elementary Education, Microbiology, Physics, Psychology and Zoology laboratories with well-equipped resources.

• Seminar Hall: The seminar hall is splendiferous with a seating capacity of 125 and is instrumented with the latest audio-visual equipment.

• Medical Room: Medical facility is available for all the students during working hours. Medical and dental check-ups are conducted in the college regularly by qualified medical professionals.
