The college focuses in the field of Liberal Arts, Science and Commerce. It is known to be the first institute of Delhi University. The institute was founded by Mahatma Hansraj. Earlier, the institute was only for men, later on, in 1978, it became a co-educational institution. Also, it is the first college to hoist the National Flag within the premises. The college has been ranked as the second best college of the University of Delhi. Besides, the college comprises three research centres for specific and inter-disciplinary research. The research department is often funded by Direct Benefits Transfer, the National Medical Plants Board and University Grants Commission.
Selection Procedure:
- Selection to BA (General) shall be determined on the basis of one language and three best academic/elective subjects
- Selection to BA (Honors) shall be made on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying examination including one language and three best subjects as per the following: One Language from Part 1 of List C1 (Annexure II) + three best subjects out of Part 2 of List C1 (Annexure II)
