Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University has been upgraded to Central University by an Act of Parliament, i.e. the Central Universities Act 2009. The university has been entrusted with new responsibilities for the guidance of students. HNBGU faculty and all other stakeholders also entrusted with responsibilities for the sake of students so that they can achieve excellence in academics and strive for all-round development of students. HNBGU Courses and their eligibility under PG Level are given below:    

• The following eligibility criteria which are given below will be applicable to all the courses and applicants: The applicants belonging to SC and ST will be given 5% relaxation in admission: Schools of Agriculture and Allied Sciences; Sciences; Earth Sciences; and Life Sciences: 45% marks in the qualifying examination
• Schools of Arts, Communications and Languages; Commerce; Education and Humanities and Social Sciences: 40% marks in the qualifying examination

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (formerly known as Garhwal University) was established in 1973 in Srinagar town in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state in Northern India. Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University is affiliated to the University Grants Commission of India (UGC) in New Delhi, offering a vast range of courses at UG and PG level. Few areas of the subjects hold a doctoral level degree.

UG programmes:

At UG level, the university offers courses like Bachelor of Science (B.Sc), BA/B.Sc, Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) for a duration period of three years except B.Pharma.

Candidates seeking admission in B.Pharma must have studied PCB / PCM with english in order to meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible for rest of the UG courses candidates need to have secured a 10+2 level or equivalent  degree in relevant discipline from a well recognized education institute.

Admission in B.Sc, BA/B.Sc and B.A is made on the basis of merit. Admission in B.Pharm is done on the basis of marks scored in the entrance test conducted by the college.

PG programmes:

At PG level, the college offers Master of science (M.Sc), Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) for a duration period of two years. Eligible candidates need to appear in the entrance test conducted by the university.

UG programmes:

In the field of Arts, Communication and Languages, the university caters Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in general, Bachelor of Arts in Honors [B.A (Hons)], Modern B.A and Bachelor of Library & Information Science (B. Lib. & Info. Sc) comprising multiple specializations. Duration of B. Lib. & Info. Sc programme is one year while the duration of rest of the programmes is of three years.

A 10+2 level degree 10+2 or intermediate in relevant discipline is must to be considered eligible for the UG programmes.

The eligible candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained in their last academic examination. Failing to meet the eligibility criteria will lead to the elimination of the candidates from the admission process.

PG programmes:

At the PG level the university provides two courses like Master of Arts (M.A) and a PG Diploma exploring the area of Journalism & Mass Mass Com. Duration of M.A programme is of two years whereas the duration of PG Diploma is one year.
