The Indian Institute of Management was established in 1996 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It is recognised for its postgraduate programmes in management which are equivalent to an MBA. IIT Indore is a public autonomous institute. Besides a residential postgraduate programme in management, it offers an executive course, a five-year integrated programme in management and postgraduate diplomas for executives in Mumbai. It also offers fellow programmes in management. The postgraduate programme in management costs Rs. 16,00,000 for two years for Indian citizens and Rs. 24,00,000 for non resident Indians. 

Admissions 

Students with a bachelor’s degree and a 50% aggregate are eligible for admission. Also, admissions are based on CAT results and the exam is held in November or December. A written ability test and personal interview are held for shortlisted students. Further, students should have an overall 90% in CAT. Students are shortlisted on the basis of their class X, class XII, CAT results and a diversity factor. The final selection takes into consideration all of the above along with written ability test score and personal interview scores.

Placements and Salary Trends  

Companies such as ONGC, Parle, PepsiCo, HDFC, Axis Bank, HT Media, Infosys, JP Morgan, State Bank of India, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Ericson, Wipro and Titan have recruited talent from the institute previously. In the 2019 academic year, the institute witnessed a never-seen-before maximum package of Rs. 85.29 lakh per annum. The average CTC was Rs. 20.79 lakh per annum, a 14% increase from the previous year. Students were employed in the fields of consulting (Cognizant, Deloitte), finance (Axis Bank, HDFC), general management/HR/Operations (Airtel, Paytm), sales and marketing (Unilever, Asian Paints) and IT/Analytics (Google, IBM).
