IIT Hyderabad Admission 

The candidates seeking admission in the Institute are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria as per the courses. They are required to fill an online application form available on the official website of the Institute. An application fee of INR 300 for General and OBC (INR 150 for SC/ST/PwD Category and Females) should be paid through SBI Collect.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad was established in the year 2008 by the MHRD, Government of India and is located in the district of Sangareddy, Telangana, India. According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), IIT-Hyderabad received the 7th rank under the category of Engineering (Research and Technology)

All qualified candidates with a valid Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) score become eligible to apply for M.Des. admission.

Admission to M.A. (Developmental Studies) will be granted on the basis of an entrance test followed by an interview conducted by the institute.

Admission to the doctoral programs requires either B.Tech./GATE qualification for engineering departments with a good academic background or M.Tech/GATE qualification for engineering departments or National Eligibility Test (NET) qualification for Science departments.

At the PG level, the institute offers a number of programs under the discipline of M.Tech, M.Sc, M.Des, and M.A. in Development Studies.

In addition to the two-year M.Tech program, IIT-H also offers a three-year M.Tech program for which the admission is through an interview. However, the department reserves the right not to admit anyone on a three-year program if suitable candidates are not found.

The CSE department does not offer a part-time M. Tech. program. Admission to the M. Tech. program is solicited in three categories:

• 2-year M.Tech in CS with Teaching Assistantship (TA)
• 3-year M.Tech in CS with Research/Project Assistantship (RA)

M.Tech: Admission to the M.Tech programs requires B.Tech../B.E. degree or equivalent in the respective or allied areas with an exceptional academic record and a valid score in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). 

The department reserves the right to conduct interviews for admission to the program even if the applicant has a valid GATE score.

M.Sc: Admission to the M.Sc. program will be granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in IIT-JAM.

M.Des: Admission will be granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design). 

M.A. Developmental Studies: Eligible candidates will be called to appear for an entrance test followed by an interview.

At the doctoral level, IIT Hyderabad awards a Ph.D. as a full-time program under 16 disciplines. The registered students are required to defend a problem statement and complete 12 credits of course work successfully, in order to confirm their Ph.D. candidature.

Ph.D. is offered by all the academic departments at IITH  (except Engineering Science).

Admission to the Ph.D. program is done through an Interview conducted by the institute. 

For Ph.D. in Engineering or related fields, The candidate must have earned MTech/Equivalent Degree in CS/ECE/EE or related areas. The applicant must have already earned the Master's degree, or should at least be in the final year of the respective program. In the latter case, it would be assumed that the candidate will be able to complete the degree by the time of admission into the Ph.D. program.
