Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is a distance learning national university located in New Delhi. It was established by an act of Parliament in the year 1985 and has its presence all over the country. There are over 3 million graduates from IGNOU that are working in India and overseas. The university, which is acknowledged as the largest university in the world, aims to provide equal opportunities to all the segments of society and to promote distance/ open education in India.

Latest: The School of Health Sciences (SOHS), operating under IGNOU has introduced a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Management of CBRNE Disasters – Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive disasters. The University has collaborated with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS) along with ongoing support from the Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) to design this 6-month program.

IGNOU Admission 2020

Given below is a brief about the registration process for taking admission in the University.

Students can register online to secure IGNOU Admissions 2020 in the courses offered by IGNOU under its Online Admission System (OAS). Students must follow the given steps to register themselves:

  1. Visit the official website of the IGNOU i.e. www.ignou.ac.in
  2. In the main menu click on ‘Register Online’.
  3. Select on online admission.
  4. After that, you will be redirected to the OAS page.
  5. Fill in all the required information to appear for the exam of IGNOU and then submit.

Before Registration, Students Must Ensure That They Have The Following Documents:

  1. Scanned photograph & signature (maximum size 100 KB)
  2. Scanned copy of Age Proof & documents in support of educational qualification (Size 400 KB)
  3. Scanned copy of Category certificate (if applicable) & experience certificate (size 400 KB)
  4. BPL Certificate (size must be less than 400 KB)
  5. Fees can be paid through credit/debit card or net banking.

How To Fill The Online Admission Form (OAS):

  1. Initially, click on the new user registration link & provide the basic details like name, mobile number & DOB.
  2. Now fill the whole application form with due attention & verify the details & submit. After form submission, your username & password will be provided to you on the registered email ID & phone number.
  3. Now login again through the existing user section & fill the online application form. You need to provide the following details in the application form.

  • Educational Qualifications (course & correspondence details)
  • Upload of desired (scanned) documents

After completion of all details click on ‘make payment’ & pay through debit/credit card or net banking (INR 60 only).

Status Of Application:

Students can check their application status by simply clicking on the ‘Know your status’ section on the home page of OAS. They have to enter their contact number & the application status will be displayed on the screen (whether the application is successfully submitted on in progress).

NOTE: Students can also re-register themselves by following the same application platform as is given for general registration.

IGNOU Study Material

The University has a provision to provide a soft copy of the self-learning material in place of printed material. A learner opting for the soft copy will be given a discount of 15% in the Programme Fee. The Option to this effect has to be indicated by the learners while filling in the Online Admission Form. Such learners will not be given printed self-learning material. The University sends study material to the students by Registered post/ Speed Post.

IGNOU Result

IGNOU is the largest Open University in the field of distance cum private education in almost every field of education. The University conducts several exams to offer admission in various Doctorate, UG, PG, Diploma and certificate courses. Evaluation Process In IGNOU

IGNOU follows a unique three-stage process to measure the performance of a student.

  • Self-Assessment: In terms of marks weightage of this section is nil, but it is very important for student’s mental growth.

  • Evaluation Through Assignments: It includes 25 to 30% of the total weightage.

  • Term-End Examination (TEE): It includes 70 to 75% of the total weightage.

Computer Marked Assignments (CMA) are required to be sent to the IGNOU campus while the Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) have to be sent to the respective study centers.

Those seeking admission can apply through the IGNOU Online admission portal within the stipulated time. Candidates can also re-register for certain UG, PG and Research courses offered by IGNOU before within the stipulated time through the IGNOU re-registration portal. For admission to most of the IGNOU courses offered by the University, candidates are shortlisted for admission on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying degree. However, in case of some specific courses, the University conducts an admission test for selection of students.

Registration for Dec 2019 Term End Examination

Candidates can now register for the Term End Examination at the IGNOU portal. The registration and fee payment will last till October 31, 2019.

Hall tickets available for December 2019 Term End Examination

IGNOU has made available the Hall Tickets for the December 2019 Term End Examinations (TEE) for all the courses offered by the university. In addition to it, the university has also published the corresponding Grade Card for the results. Candidates can view and download the hall ticket from the official IGNOU website.

Steps to download IGNOU TEE 2019 Hall Ticket:

1. Log on to the official IGNOU website and click the 'Hall Tickets for the December 2019 Term End Exam' link. 2. Then, the candidate should enter his/her 9-digit enrollment number and select the program.
3. Upon successful submission, the corresponding hall ticket will be displayed on the screen. 
4. Subsequently, the candidates can download the hall ticket for his/her corresponding program. 

Selection of candidates to the IGNOU management programs (MBA, DIM, PGDIM and PG Diplomas in HRM, FM, OM, MM and FMP) will be done on the basis of the score obtained in the OPENMAT, conducted all over India twice a year. Subsequently, a result card will be dispatched to all the candidates who have appeared in the OPENMAT examination. It will indicate whether the candidate has qualified or not for the IGNOU MBA programs on the basis of the cut-off score as per the University guidelines.

Candidates seeking admission to IGNOU management programs can register for OPENMAT by downloading the information brochure containing the application form and send it upon completion along with the prescribed fee. The candidate will be required to submit the duly filled-in application form along with self-attested copies of documents as specified in Entrance-cum-Admission Form. The program fee should be submitted only through Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favor of “IGNOU”, payable at the city where the Regional Centre is situated. The original documents should be submitted later by the students for verification, upon receiving offer letter for admission. IGNOU UG And PG Admission 2020

IGNOU offers a wide variety of Distance UG courses under various different specialization for 10+2 qualified students. Admission to the IGNOU courses usually commences in the month of February and the selection of eligible candidates is done based on their 10+2 examination marks. Apart from the Bachelor’s degree, the college also provides several Diploma courses for the Undergraduate students.

Key Points:

  • The Bachelor’s Degree offered by the University are for a minimum period of three years except for the Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) and B.L.I.Sc. which are offered for a minimum duration of one year
  • The UG Diploma courses offered are for a minimum duration of one year except for Diploma in Elementary Education which is for a period of two years

In addition to the UG courses, IGNOU also offers a plethora of Postgraduate and PG Diploma courses for the graduate students willing to pursue higher studies in their respective fields.

Key Points:

  1. All the Post Graduate courses except for M.C.A. and M.L.I.Sc. are offered for a minimum duration of 2 years.
    • M.C.A. course is offered for a minimum duration of three years
    • M.L.I.Sc. is offered for a minimum period of one year

IGNOU Application Process 2020

For January 2020 session, applications for admission to various UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate in Korean Language and Culture, Certificate in Japanese Language, and Post Graduate Certificate in Acupuncture will start in month of November/December 2019.

  1. The application form can be submitted online through the official IGNOU website
  2. The candidates are advised to download the prospectus and read the instructions carefully before filling up the form
  3. The candidates should remember their Username and Password for subsequent login
  4. The application fee can be paid by the following methods
    • Credit Card (Master/Visa)
    • Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay)
    • Net Banking
    • ATM Card (PNB)

Steps for Online Registration:

Step 1: Before registration, all the first time applicants are advised to check the details including eligibility criteria, fee details, duration, etc. for the desired program from the “Online Admission System” portal available on the official IGNOU website

Step 2: Upon verifying the necessary details, candidates should click on the "Register Yourself" button which appears in the applicant login area and fill the required registration details.

  • UserName entered must be between 8 to 16 characteINR.
  • Password entered must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.

Step 3: Upon filling the mandatory information, the candidate should click the "SUBMIT" button. The candidate’s username will be instantly sent to the registered e-mail ID and SMS. The student must remember his/her username and Password for subsequent login.

Note: Already registered/ existing users must click the "Login" button and enter their username along with the password to go any further.

Step 4: Upon registering through the “Login” button, the candidate will be required to enter personal details, program details, qualification details, course details, and correspondence details. 

  • If the candidate subjects are different than the subjects mentioned, the candidate should click the "Others" checkbox
  • For candidates having the qualification of graduation and above, he/she should select “9999” in the field of "Board Code"

Pre-requisites for filling up the application form online:

Before filling-up the form online, candidates must possess the following documents:

  • Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB in size)
  • Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB in size)
  • Scanned copy of Age Proof
  • Scanned copy of relevant Educational Qualification (less than 400 KB in size)
  • Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate (if any) (less than 400 KB in size)
  • Scanned Copy of Category Certificate, if SC/ST/OBC (less than 400 KB in size)

In order to complete the online registration, candidates can submit the fee by the following methods:
