Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University KVAFSU is an autonomous educational institution which was established exclusively for the development of education and learning; conduct of research in the fields of Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences, is a State Public University located headquarters at Bidar, Karnataka. KVAFSU was established in the year 2004 by the as per the Karnataka Act No. 9 of 2004 called The Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries University Act 2004 by Government of Karnataka, India.

KVAFSU courses offered:

The selection of B.V.Sc. and AH programme is through the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). You can obtain the application form online from the University website.

KVAFSU UG courses:

Eligibility:

1. B.V.Sc. & A.H. (as per the MSVE regulations of Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi.)
   a.) The candidates should have a passed and have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in PCM and English of the second year PUC of Karnataka Pre-University Board or its equivalent examination.
   b.) For candidates belonging to SC/ST and Cat-I, a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in PCM and English of the second year PUC of Karnataka Pre-University Board or its equivalent examination.
   c.) The candidates should have appeared for common entrance test (CET) in PCM conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority, Govt. of Karnataka, Bangalore.
   d.) The candidate should be completing 17 years of age as on 31st December of that academic year.
2. B.Tech. (D.Tech.) and B.F.Sc.
   The candidates should have passed the second year PUC of Karnataka Pre-University Board or its equivalent examination PCM and Mathematics as elective subjects.

KVAFSU PG and Doctoral Programmes:

Eligibility:

1. PG Programme:
   a.) A candidate shall possess a Bachelor’s degree in the respective subject.
   b.) Candidate shall have 6.00/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of marks for general category and 5.5/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of marks for SC/ST/Cat-I candidates at bachelor’s degree level.
   c.) Candidate shall be a citizen of India and must have studied in any educational institution in Karnataka State for a period of seven academic years at any time up to the Bachelor’s degree as on 1st July of the admission year. [Not applicable to candidates who are GOK, GOI, ICAR nominees, NRIs and Foreign Nationals (FN)]. The domicile requirement is not applicable for admission to PhD programme.
   The requirement of seven years study in any educational institution in Karnataka State for a period of seven academic years at any time up to the Bachelor’s degree as on 1st July of the admission year is not required for those Children of defense personnel, Central Government employees/Statutory Corporation set up, owned or controlled by the Central / Karnataka State Government serving on duty in the State both on the date of submission of the application and during the period of at least 12 months immediately before such date, Children of State Government employees including children of Members of the All India services born on the Karnataka State Cadre.
2. PhD Programme:
   a.) The candidates should possess a Master's Degree in respective subjects.
   b.) Candidate should have OGPA of 6.50/10 or equivalent percentage of marks for general category and 6.00/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent percentage of marks for SC/ST/Cat-I/ candidates at Master’s degree level.

KVAFSU offers MBA in Food Business:

MBA in Food Business Management is two-year full time MBA programme and is offered at the Hebbal Campus Bangalore of the Dairy Science College, of the Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University under self-financing mode at Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar.

Eligibility:

1. Candidates to be eligible for admission to the two-year full time MBA programme in Food Business in the University shall possess eligible bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines viz., B.Tech.(D.Tech); B.V.Sc; B.V.Sc & AH; B.F.Sc.; B.Sc.(Agri); B.Sc.(Ag. Maco), B.Sc.(Hort), B.Sc.(Rural Home Science), B.Tech. (Food Engineering), B.Sc. (Food Technology); B.Tech. (Agri. Engineering); B.Sc.(Sericulture); B.Sc (Banking) and all professional graduates of State Agricultural Universities / Veterinary Universities/ Deemed universities under ICAR system with a minimum of 6.00/10.00 or equivalent percentage,
   or
   All graduates from a recognized University who have studied a 4 year-Under Graduate programme or possessing a Post Graduate in any discipline.
   or
   All graduates who have passed the Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course.
   
   If any seat reserved in favour of candidates belonging to any of the reserved categories as communicated by the GOK, is not filled up due to non-availability of eligible candidates such seats shall be transferred to the general merit category.
   Reservation of seats shall be as per the prevailing orders of the Government of Karnataka (GOK) policy.
   There is no specific domicile requirement for the candidates applying for this programme.

KVAFSU offers Diploma in Animal Husbandry

A two year Diploma in Animal Husbandry is offered here for students who have passed S.S.L.C (Class – X) and studied from 1st standard to 10th standard in rural areas of the state.  The diploma course is offered in two years, each year of two semesters of 21 weeks each.

Eligibility:

Admission is done at the state level on the basis of merit of the candidates in their S.S.L.C. examination and subject to reservation policy of the State / University.
