National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kolkata campus is one of the top fashion colleges in the country that run under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India. Established in the year 1995, NIFT Kolkata is one of the 16 NIFTs located in various parts of the country.

The Kolkata campus offers 6 B.Des. programs and B.FTech. program at the undergraduate level. It also has a postgraduate level program, viz. Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.) offered to graduate students.

The B.Des. program is offered in six different specialization. The intake capacity for the B.FTech. and M.F.M. programs is 30 seats each. The B.Des. program has a total of 120 seats with 30 seats per specialization, making it a total intake of 240 seats per year.

• Candidates seeking provisional admission due to non-declaration of their final year/final semester/12th class result must provide proof of having passed all papers in all the previous year’s/ semesters of qualifying degree exam.
• NRI candidates fulfilling the admission criteria as specified in the information brochure may apply online with requisite application fee of US$100 through the Online NIFT Payment gateway.
• The medium of instruction at NIFT is English and hence, all aspirants applying to NIFT must possess working knowledge of English language.
• Applicants must also possess basic computing knowledge and skill as applied to operating system, word processing, text editing, spread sheet, data base application, presentation as well as net surfing abilities.
• Candidates having Common Merit Rank (CMR) and falling under “Children/Wards of NRI” category will be given an opportunity to opt for NRI seat subject to fulfilling the criteria, submission of necessary documents.
• In case of equal entrance test scores of two candidates, the older candidate (as per date of birth) will be given preference.

National Institute Of Fashion Technology – UG Admission 2020

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata campus offers undergraduate level degree courses in the field of Design and Fashion Technology. The campus currently offers a Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) program with specializations in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, Fashion Communication and Leather Design.

The Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.FTech.) program is offered with specialization in Apparel Production. The basic eligibility criteria for the B.Des. program is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized board.

For admission to the B.FTech. program, candidates must pass 10+2 in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of entrance exam and further evaluation as applicable.

Aspiring candidates can apply through the institute website by filling the online application. The institute doesn’t accept any other mode of application at the moment.

The application fee can be paid online via net-banking and card payments. Those who wish to pay the fee offline can send a demand draft for the prescribed application fee to Project Manager – CMS, All India Management Association.

• Foreign candidates must qualify board/ university examination (as equivalent to the 10+2 system) that is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities in order to be eligible.
• Candidates who possess 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education are also eligible to apply.

National Institute Of Fashion Technology – PG Admission 2020

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata campus offers a Master’s degree in Fashion Management (M.F.M) at the postgraduate level.

Candidates seeking admission to the M.F.M. program must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, or an undergraduate diploma of 3 years duration in Design from National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) or National Institute of Design (NID). Selection of candidates is done on the basis of entrance test score and group discussion followed by personal interview.

Prospective applicants can apply online by filling the application form available at the institute website. The institute allows for application fee payment though online mode via payment gateway. Candidates wishing to pay the application fee online can send a demand draft for the prescribed application fee to the NIFT exam conducting board (AIMA).

Eligibility Table

• Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provided they produce a proof of having acquired the minimum prescribed qualifications at the time of counselling/ admission.

NIFT, Kolkata Application Process

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Kolkata campus accepts applications from eligible candidates through a centralized application process which is common for all campuses. The detailed application process for the same is as follows:

• Prospective candidates may apply online by visiting the institute website www.nift.ac.in, or by logging on to https://applyadmission.net/nift.
• It is advisable for the candidate to ensure eligibility and go through the guidelines before filling the online application form. The prospectus is available for free downloaded at the NIFT official website.
• All requisite information in the application form must be entered correctly. Candidates must also enter correct personal details such as name, contact information etc. for communication purpose.
• The Application Fee can be paid through online payment gateway via credit/ debit card, or offline through a Bank Demand Draft.
• The application fee for General/OBC (Non-Creamy) Category candidates is Rs.1500/-. SC/ ST/ PHP category candidates need to pay Rs.750/- only.
• Candidates wishing to pay the application fee through demand draft must obtain the draft prior to filling the application form, and also must furnish details of the DD in the online application from.
• Those who have paid the application fee through Demand Draft must send a printout of the Application Form, duly completed in all respect, along with Demand Draft on the following address:

NIFT Kolkata campus currently offers the following scholarship schemes to eligible and meritorious candidates for assistance in pursuing their studies from NIFT:

Educational Loan

NIFT has tied up with the Union Bank of India (UBI) for Student Education Loans at a special rate of interest of 11.75%. The rate of interest is 11.25% for candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

Girl students also enjoy a rate of interest of 11.25%. The students can approach any Branch of UBI across the country with proof of clearing the NIFT entrance test to avail the facility.

NIFT Means – Cum – Merit Financial Assistance Scheme

NIFT offers limited subsidies to meritorious students who are in need of financial assistance as per the provisions made in Means-cum-Merit Financial Assistance Scheme.

Students who are interested in availing this facility should submit their application along with parental income certificate and contact the Student Development Activity Coordinator (SDAC) at their campus after admission.

Assistantship Programme

NIFT also offers assistance through a Student Assistantship Programme on campus. This gives the students part time employment within the institute.
