One of the sixteen campuses of National Institute of Fashion Technology, NIFT –Navi Mumbai was established in 1995. A statutory institute NIFT, Navi Mumbai, was established by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

NIFT, Mumbai at present offers Bachelor of Design (B.Design) in 5 disciplines and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.Ftech) at under graduate level. At postgraduate level, the institute offers Masters of Design (M.Design) and Masters in Fashion Management (MFM).

• Candidates for B.Design and B.Ftech course need to have passed HSC and applicants of B.Ftech and M.Design course must have done graduation in the relevant discipline.
• Selection to B.Design course is on the basis of entrance exams GAT and CAT followed by a situation test.

NIFT, Navi Mumbai UG Courses Admissions 2020

National Institute of Fashion Technology, Navi Mumbai offers B.Design course in five disciplines and B.Ftech course of 4 years duration at undergraduate level.

Candidates applying should have passed 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination.

Admission to B.Design is through CAT, GAT entrance exams followed by a situation test and for B.Ftech course selection is on the basis of GAT entrance exam only.

1. GAT Exam for B. Design

• Duration of GAT (General Ability Test) entrance exam is 2 hours; the exam consists of total 150 questions.
• Of the 150 questions, 35 questions will be of Communication Ability, 30 questions will be asked each from English Comprehension, Analytical Ability and General Awareness and 25 questions will be asked from Quantitative ability.

1. Creative ability test (CAT) is conducted to judge the intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development and design ability of the candidate. In the test candidate should showcase creative and innovative use of color and illustration skills.
2. Situation Test of B.Design is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability on any given situation with a given set of materials.
3. GAT Exam for B. Ftech Course

• For B.Ftech course, GAT entrance exam is of 3 hours and it consists of 150 questions.
• In it 25 questions each will be of Analytical Ability, Case Study and General Awareness, 45 questions will come from Communication Ability and English Comprehension and 30 questions will be asked from Quantitative ability.

The weight age assigned to each test for determining final merit is given below:

• Maximum age of an applicant must be 23 years of age as on October 01.
• The entrance exam has no negative marking.
• Exam schedule of CAT for B.Design course is 10 AM to 1 PM and GAT will be from 2 PM to 4 PM.
• Schedule for B.Ftech course entrance exam is 10 AM to 1 PM.

NIFT, Navi Mumbai PG Courses Admissions 2020

The institute offers Master of Design (M.Design) and Master of Fashion Management course at PG level. Minimum eligibility for these courses is graduation from a recognized institute.

For M.Design course candidates will have sit for GAT and CAT entrance exams. Shortlisted candidates will be called for GD and PI.

1. GAT Exam for M. Design

• GAT exam for M.Design course is of 120 minutes duration and consists of 150 questions.
• Question paper consists of 35 questions of Communication Ability, 30 questions will be asked each from English Comprehension, Analytical Ability and General Awareness and 25 questions will be asked from Quantitative ability.

1. Selection to MFM course is on the basis of GAT entrance exam followed by GD and Interview.

• The entrance exam for MFM course will be 3 hours and a total of 150 questions will be asked.
• Out of the total 150 questions 25 question each will be asked from Analytical Ability and General Awareness, 40 questions will be of case study, 50 questions from Communication Ability and English Comprehension and 10 questions will be asked from Quantitative ability.

Eligibility Table

• GAT entrance exam for MFM course will be held from 10 AM to 1 PM.
• There is no provision of negative marking in the entrance exam.
• There is no age limit for applying to PG course.

National Institute Of Fashion Technology, Mumbai Application Process

For both the UG and PG courses application forms can only be submitted through online mode. Candidates need to follow below steps to fill the application form.

• Fill the application form.
• For application fee make payment of INR 1500 (Non Creamy OBC and General Candidates, INR 750 for SC/ ST). Fee can be paid through online mode or through Demand Draft. The Demand Draft should be issued in favor of “NIFT HO”, payable at New Delhi.
• Candidates paying fee through Demand Draft are required to send the printout of the application form, duly completed in all respect, along with Demand Draft on the  following address:
