G. R. Govindarajulu and G.R. Damodaran established PSG College of Arts and Science in 1947. It is an autonomous educational institute. Previously, it was under Madras University. From 1978, the college is under Bharathiar University.

It offers BA in English, sociology, Carnatic music, Tamil, B.Sc in biochemistry, botany, chemistry, electronics, mathematics, nutrition, food service management & dietetics, physics, psychology, statistics, zoology, catering science & hotel management, computer science, computer technology, costume design & fashion, information technology, mathematics with computer applications, visual communication (electronic media), microbiology, B.Voc in banking, stock and insurance, networking and mobile applications, B.Com in accounting & finance, business analytics, business process services, BBA and BCA programme. It offers MA in economics, Tamil, journalism & mass communication, M.Sc in applied psychology, applied microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, environmental science, food and nutrition, mathematics, physics, statistics, M.Com, MCA, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, job-oriented courses, add-on courses and research programs.

PSG College of Arts and Science Admission Process

For each program, the college sets up eligibility criteria. The application form needs to be filled up with all the details and submitted. The registration takes place both in online and offline mode. The college releases a merit list. Although, admission takes place mainly on the basis of merit, some seats are reserved for management quota. In UG self-financed courses, 50% of seats are reserved for management quota and in UG-aided courses, 10% seats are reserved.

PSG College of Arts and Science Placements

The institute has a placement cell which organizes the recruitment drive every year. It provides training to the students by arranging group discussions and mock interviews. The training also develops their technical skills, communicative skills and aptitude skills. In the session 2017-18, 734 students participated and 625 got placed. The key recruiting companies are Amazon, EY, Cognizant, Infosys, TATA Consultancy Services, Wipro, Goldman Sachs, Godrej, HCL, HP, Hexaware, McKinsey & Company, Vivanta, Zomato, and Face.
