Anna University Admissions

The university issues separate application forms for separate courses. All the application forms are available on the university website except for B.Arch. Admission to B.Arch. are made through valid NATA score, so candidates will need to apply for NATA exam before applying to the university. Tabulated below are the acceptable exam for admission in the programs at AU. 

Anna University Scholarships

The university provides financial assistance to deserving and meritorious students. A number of scholarships are offered by AU under various criteria. Listed below is brief about the same:

• MBC/ BC Scholarships: This scholarship is awarded to backward category students who are studying in the regular courses. The annual income of the parents should not exceed 2 lakhs. 
• SC/ST Scholarship: To be eligible for this, the annual income of the parents should not exceed 2.5 Lakhs. A certificate from Tahsildar is essential as proof of the category. 
• Merit-cum-means Minority Scholarship: The students belonging to Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, and Sikkim can apply for this. The annual income of their income must not exceed 2.5 Lakhs. 
• Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship: This scholarship is for students studying in colleges and universities. To be eligible, a student must score more than 80% marks in HSC exams. They must also maintain 75% attendance in 1st year.
• TN Educational Trust Scholarship: This is available for both UG as well as PG students. The annual income of parents should not exceed 2 lakhs.

Anna University is one of the largest technical universities located in the state of Tamil Nadu. The university is structurally divided into four separate colleges or institutions, all of them located in the state of Tamil Nadu.

At present, Anna University offers various courses at UG, PG and Doctorate level. Application form can be filled online except for MBA, MCA, MS by Research and Ph.D. courses for which the application forms are required to be submitted to the university. All decisions regarding seat allotment, counselling, and fee payment are the sole responsibility of Controller of Examination (COE). This university also imparts education through distance learning.

• BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch admission are subject to candidates merit in Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission (TNEA) process which includes choice locking and final seal allotment.
• NATA qualified candidates are also eligible to apply for B.Arch program.
• Candidates have to qualify in Anna University Common Entrance Test (TANCET) to secure admission to ME/ M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan/ MBA and MCA courses. Final admission is subject to Tamil Nadu Common Admission (TANCA) counselling process.
• Students seeking admission to ME/ M.Tech courses on the basis of GATE score are also eligible. Such candidates need not appear in TANCET.
• Anna University conducts separate Entrance Test to offer admission in M.Sc and M.Phil courses.
• Ph.D. admission is based on the university-based written Test followed by an interview although UGC NET/ CSIR NET/ SLET/ JRF Teaching Fellowship holders are also eligible for admission.

 The university also offers ME & M.Tech programs in the various discipline at PG level. BE/ B.Tech degree in the relevant field is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Diploma holders along with AMIE are also eligible to apply. Admission is based on TANCET score followed by university-based counselling (TANCA). Candidates with a valid score in GATE are also eligible to apply. Such candidates are exempted from TANCET.

Key Points:

• Those students who have completed their qualifying degree through distance or weekend mode are not eligible to apply.
• Anna University also offers admission under the sponsored category (candidates belonging to Government Aided Institutions/ Government Organizations). Such candidates must have at least five years of work experience in the related field along with a valid score in TANCET.

• Application form for ME/ M.Tech courses can be filled online by visiting TANCA portal on payment of INR 500 (INR 250 for reserved categories) as application fee. TANCET and GATE category candidates need to apply separately.

Anna University M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA & MCA Admission 2020

At Postgraduate level, Anna University offers M.Arch, M.Plan, MBA, and MCA (Regular+Lateral) courses on a full-time basis. Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) is the required eligibility criteria. Admission is offered to TANCET qualified candidates only followed by university-based counseling (TANCA).

Anna University BE, B.Tech & B.Arch Admission 2020

Anna University offers full-time BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch courses in various disciplines at UG level. 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission.

For BE/ B.Tech admission, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of marks in 10+2 followed by TNEA counselling. NATA score in mandatory for B.Arch course.

Application form for BE/ B.Tech and B.Arch course offered by Anna University can be filled online by visiting the official portal of TNEA followed by document verification at the TNEA Facilitation Centers (TFCs). Anna University M.Sc & M.Phil Admission 2020

M.Sc & M.Phil courses are offered at PG level in different disciplines. Admission to both the program is granted on the basis of Candidates’ performance in the entrance test conducted by the university. Tests for both the courses are conducted at different centers located in Chennai.

Candidate must be a graduate in the same or related discipline for admission to M.Sc program while for M.Phil, a Master’s degree in the same or related field of research is required.

For admission to the M.Phil. program, candidates’ previous academic record will also be put under review. Only exceptional candidates with a good academic record will be selected. M.Sc Entrance Test is a two-hour test with 100 MCQs for 100 marks. I/3 marks are deducted for a wrong attempt.

Anna University offers admission to Ph.D. (Full-Time and Part-Time) & MS by Research programs under Centre for Research (CFR) two times in a year. Candidates with Master’s degree or an M.Phil. Degree in the same or related field are eligible to apply. Selection to the Ph.D. program is based on the performance of candidates’ in the written test conducted by the university followed by an interview.

UGC NET (including JRF)/ UGC CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET qualified and Teacher Fellowship holder are exempted from Anna University Written Test. Such candidates have to appear in the interview round only.
