Annai College of Arts & Science was established in the year 2001, by the K.K.O.Mohamed Ibrahim Educational and Charitable Trust, with student strength of mere 150 in 2001 and within a short span of 14 years, we are now 3600 students strong and a Leader among the colleges in the neighbourhood of Kumbakonam, Thanjavur District, TamilNadu. The college is situated in a village called Kovilacheri, 10 kms away from the main town, Kumbakonam, on the Kumbakonam-Chennai Highway.

The College not only focuses on the quality of education but also concentrates on the Moral Intelligence of the students. As a result of the parental approach by the faculty members towards the students, we could achieve both academic excellence and Value-driven student population, both in and out of the campus.

Since it is a Muslim Minority Institution, they are also keen on educating the minority community to mainstream and strengthen the quality of our poly-cultural polity in the process. Our College is recognized by the Director of Collegiate Education, Government of TamiNadu and affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. The College has already obtained approval under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act and has applied for 12 (B) to the UGC. As far as the academic achievement is concerned, the students of our college have secured ranks among the affiliated colleges of Bharathidasan University, which include 12 Gold Medal 14 Silver Medals and 13 Bronze Medals. The college was accorded Minority Status on 1st July 2009.

Since majority of students are first graduate students and hail from rural background, many efforts have been taken to bring in external educational Trusts who support education for the economically challengedcommunity. The Trust focuses on the educational mission to empower countless people through education, especially the economically challenged sections of population and the Muslim Community in the process.

Four brothers, M.AnwarKabir, M.I.AbdulGafoor, M.I.Humayun Kabir and M.I. AhamedYasin, form the active foundation of the K.K.O.Mohamed Ibrahim Educational & Charitable Trust. The natural passion for Muslim Education does not prevent the Trust from considering others also who are worthy of receiving education. The College offers transport facilities for students residing at a distance of 70kms radius. The faculties are also given free transport facilities. The safety and security for Women Students, is given high priority among the faculty members and Management. Our College also  provides residential facility to both male and female students. A unique scheme by students for the students, named Annai New Revolution, mobilizes funds for economically backward students by the students themselves.

Apart from the regular academic curriculum, the students of Annai, have the opportunity to learn about Eco-Education through Nature Club, which regularly organizes Trekking Expeditions in the deep forest in Kodaikanal and Ooty with the permission from the Forest Department.This largely motivates the students to protect and conserve the endangered flora and fauna.

The College offers 15 UG Programmes. 6 PG Programmes and 1 Post Graduate Diploma. Courses were started dependingupon the diverse needs of students. The teaching learning process is enriched by the introduction of a “Course File” where the teachers continuously update the learning materials, teaching aids such as PPT presentations, reference & text book information, and web resources to help their successors
in the next semesters.

3. To move towards the realization of University Status in which Cerebral Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence and Moral Intelligence would be promoted to shape the students to become rounded, healthy citizens of our great nation.

2. To devise class room instructional strategies to coach the slow learners towards enhanced performance in University Examinations.
3. To provide add on courses like Computer Literacy, Soft Skill etc to improve their career options.
4. To provide value education to transform the students into healthy citizens.
5. To sensitize students towards the environment issues of sustainable development.
