Affiliated to University Grants Commission, Desh Bhagat University (DBU) is a privately-funded institution of higher education and research at Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district. It is named after Shri Lal Singh who fought for Indian independence. Established as Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes in 1972, the institution emerged into a university in the year 1996. The university also operates its campuses in Moga, Chandigarh, Shri Muktsar Sahib and Kenya.

DBU offers over 350 educational programmes in about 50 streams at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. It offers specialization in applied sciences, management, education, commerce, engineering, agriculture, animation, fashion technology, art and craft, tourism, law, media, hotel management, performing arts, nursing, physical education and social sciences.

Desh Bhagat University, Punjab Admission Process

The applicants who wish to be considered for admission in different programmes at DBU must register themselves online by visiting its official website. Those applying for various undergraduate programmes must have secured at least 50% marks in 12th class from a recognized board. Those seeking admission in BTech programmes must have secured a minimum of 45% in 12th with mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science. To be eligible for 3-year Diploma courses in engineering and technology, the candidates should have 45% in 10th class.

The applicants of various MBA programmes need a minimum of 50% in graduation to be eligible for admission. Candidates with at least 55% in the qualifying degree (BSc/GNM) are eligible for postgraduate Diploma courses in nursing. The applicants who have qualified UGC NET are eligible for PhD and MPhil admissions at the university, but seat allotment is done based on the entrance test marks. They must possess a postgraduate degree from an authorized university with 55% marks.

DBU has an active placement cell that works towards nurturing industry-related skills in students and ensuring a maximum number of placements. Every year, it organizes placement drives where well-reputed international and Indian companies visit the campus. Students appearing for campus recruitment have to take a written test. Those who pass the written test are called for the group discussion, where speaking skills, knowledge, language, listening ability, team involvement and leadership qualities of the candidates are evaluated. The candidates who clear the second round are then called for a personal interview with the company executive.
