Ethiraj College For Women, started in 1948 was born out of the dream and vision of Shri. V.L. Ethiraj an eminent lawyer and renowned philanthropist. It was established with a commitment to provide quality education to women with strong emphasis on values and tradition and with the singular mission of empowering women.

• Situated in the heart of the city of Chennai in 9 acres of campus area, the college stands self-contained with prestigious structures measuring to a total plinth area of 3,48,751Sq.ft.
• It is this infrastructural facility and the vision which is kept up by the successive managements, principals, faculty and students which has gained for the college the five star status from NAAC and the college with Potential for Excellence award from UGC.
• In strengthening the core competencies, the college has been making steady progress.
• The college has a dedicated team of 283 faculty members who maintain academic excellence and about 6500 students who are the anchor to sustain the vision of the institution.

Extracurricular Activities:

The college has several clubs that operate with great efficiency to enable the students to participate in meaningful activities that are of service to the community. Several new clubs have also been started in the year 2009-2010 to ensure the healthy and whole-hearted participation of the students in several interesting activities. These are the:

National Service Scheme(NSS)

The College NSS has three units under the University of Madras. 300 volunteers from the undergraduate programmes actively participate in various social service activities. They participate in rallies, seminars, camps, and awareness programmes on Aids, Social evils, Domestic violence, Gender issues, Diabetes, Road safety, Environment etc.

Dr. Kauslaya Moorthy and Justice M.N. Moorthy endowments sponsoring blood donation camp was conducted on August 3rd 2009. 180 units of blood were donated to the Lions Blood Bank.

Ethiraj College for Women was founded in 1948 by Shri. V. L. Ethiraj, a college for women in Chennai, India. Affiliated to Madras University, Ethiraj College for Women is an autonomous college, managed by the Ethiraj College Trust. Ethiraj College For Women offers the undergraduate and postgraduate level courses under two categories: Aided and Self-Supporting. At postgraduate level, the college also provides MBA and MCA on the basis of TANCET examination scores.

For students of CBSE and other Board students, it will be 10 days from the date of publication of results. Application forms received after the due date will be treated under the LATE applications category. 

Registration for PG programmes offered by Ethiraj College for Women will commence from May. Candidates can apply by filling the application form online or download the application form and submit it upon completion along with the processing fee at the university office in person. 

Key Points regarding Admission:

• Admission to the UG and PG courses (both aided and self-supporting) is done on the basis of marks obtained by the candidate in the qualifying examination in the relevant discipline
• Candidates seeking admission in MBA and MCA program are required to appear in` Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)
• TANCET entrance exam is conducted by the Anna University for admission to MBA/ MCA/ M.Tech/ ME courses in various state level universities and colleges in Tamil Nadu. 
• SC/ST candidates applying for only Aided Stream will be exempted from payment of one time application fee
• 5% of the sanctioned strength in each course will be allotted for students under NRI Quota

Ethiraj College For Women UG Admission 2020

At the UG level, the college provides various courses under Aided and Self-supporting categories. Under the Aided category, the college offers B.A, B.Com and B.Sc programme while the self-supporting category comprises of B.A, BBA, B.Com (Gen), B.Com (Hons) and B.Sc. courses. At the UG level, the BCA programme is also offered by the college. Duration of all the bachelor degree programs is three years. Interested candidates in any of the UG courses need to pass 10+2 level in the relevant discipline to fulfill the required eligibility criteria. 

Admission to UG courses under both the categories (AIded and Self-supporting) is done on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying 10+2 examination in the relevant discipline. Failing to meet the eligibility criteria will lead to the elimination of the candidates from the admission process.

Ethiraj College For Women offers several postgraduate programmes in various fields such as Arts, Science and Commerce etc. The college provides M.A, M.Sc and M.Com degree courses within Aided as well as Self-supporting category. Candidates willing to apply for Master degree courses in both the categories must have secured a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized institute/university.

Admission in PG courses (Aided and Self-supporting) is done on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying degree examination in relevant discipline. Failing to meet the eligibility criteria will lead to the elimination of the candidates from the admission process.

Ethiraj College For Women MBA And MCA Admission 2020

The college offers Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Application (MCA) program at the postgraduate level to the interested candidates. The duration of the MBA and MCA program is two and three years, respectively. In case of MBA programme, candidates need to possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. However, a Bachelor’s degree in any stream with Mathematics or Statistics as a core subject at 10+2 level is required for the MCA programme.

Candidates seeking admission to MBA and MCA programme offered by Ethiraj College of Women will be required to appear for an admission test i.e. Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET), conducted by Anna University of Tamilnadu. To apply for TANCET, candidates should log on to the official examination website. 

List of Courses:

Candidates seeking admission can download the application form available at the official college website and should be submitted in person upon completion along with the registration fee of INR 600 through demand draft (DD). DD should be drawn in favor of “Ethiraj College MBA/MCA A/C” payable at Chennai and must be submitted to the MBA-MCA Section, Trust Office, Ethiraj College for Women (Autonomous).

At the time of interview, the following documents must be submitted in original:

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by Ethiraj College of Women under aided/ self-supporting category can submit the applications online along with the processing fee and necessary documents. Interested students can download the application form and submit it upon completion in person to the university office.

Submission of Online Application Form:

For admission to UG and PG courses offered by Ethiraj College for Women, candidates can submit the online application form along with the fee. While registration, students should keep in mind the following points:

Stage 1: Filling the online application form

• Candidate should choose the desired Department and fill the "Name" as per 12th mark sheet
• Candidate should type their name in tamil or get their tamil name with google translator website
• Applicant should choose the correct subjects from the given options and enter the scored marks carefully. "Any other Subject" option is given if the studied subject is not listed
• Applicant should check the filled-in details before saving the application
• Upon successful submission, candidates will be notifed via an application number by SMS and email

Stage 2: Payment of Application Fee

• Upon successful submission of application, a unique application number will be generated and the candidate will be redirected to the application fee confirmation page
• Candidates can make the payment through Net Banking, Credit or Debit cards using payment gateway. 
• Upon successful payment, candidate will receive SMS and email notification 

Stage 3: Tracking the Application

• Candidates can verify the application status and download the application only if they have paid the fee successfully
• If the payment is not received, it will be shown as not paid. The same will be automatically updated once the amount is transferred from the bank account and received at our end

Important Instructions for Submission of Online Application Form:

• A candidate can apply for any number of programmes under Aided or Self-Supporting category. Candidates should apply separately for Aided and Self Supporting Streams.
• Applications must be submitted along with the prescribed fee through online payment only 
• Candidate should have a valid Email ID or Mobile Number for registration. E-mail ID should be kept active. Status of successful registration will be sent through the registered e-mail
• Keep the soft copy of recent passport size photo ready before start filling the application form (Max image size of 100kb, Allowed type: jpg/ gif format). Preferred dimensions are 125*165 pixels (4.4.*5.8 cm)

For admission to MBA and MCA programme, candidates will be required to submit the TANCET scores along with the completed application forms and processing fee.
