Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu is one of the oldest and most renowned colleges in the Tamil Nadu state of Southern India and came into force after the Triennial Conference of the Federation of Evangelical Lutheran Churches felt the need to establish a college or the development of theological education. The college provides for major courses as Bachelors of Divinity, Masters of Theology and Doctor of Theology. The college works for the enlightenment of Christianity as a religion among the followers and students.

Gurukul Lutheran Theological College is a private institute located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The college was established in 2005 and is affiliated with Senate of Serampore University, Serampore.

Gurukul College offers B.D. at the UG level and offers M.Th at PG level and D.Th at the research level. The college also offers diploma and Bachelor of Christian Studies (BCS) program.

• Candidates applying for B.D. program must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from any recognized university in India or its equivalent from abroad approved by the Senate of Serampore University.
• Students who wish to pursue M.Th course from the college must hold B.D. degree with at least 60% marks or B grade from a recognized university.
• Candidates must have atleast one-year of practical experience in some field of Christian Service after completion of B.D. degree.
• The minimum eligibility for D.Th course is M.Th degree with at least three years of working experience and with 60% marks or above.
• For Diploma courses, candidate must have passed Class 12 or any other equivalent examination from a recognized board.
• Admission to B.D. and M.Th programs in the college is based on the entrance examination conducted by the admission authority followed by a personal interview.
• For D.Th program, candidates are required to appear for interview before the committee for the purpose of admission.
• Admission to Diploma courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.
• For BCS, candidate must be a holder of any Bachelor’s degree or B.Th degree.
• Candidate must be of 25 years or above of age and must have pass Matured Candidates Entrance Examination.

Gurukul Lutheran Theological College offers B.D. and BCS at the UG level.

Students aspiring to pursue B.D. from the college must hold a Bachelor’s degree of any recognized university in India or its equivalent from abroad approved by the Senate of Serampore University. Candidates holding B.Th degree with a pass in English I and II for the two year up-grader course can also apply for B.D. program in the college. If the candidates have passed B.Th in First or Second class, they are eligible to apply for third year of B.D. course. Or if the candidates have passed in third class, they can join second year of B.D. course.

For BCS, candidate must be a holder of any Bachelor’s degree or B.Th degree. Candidate must be of 25 years or above of age and must have pass Matured Candidates Entrance Examination.

Selection of the candidates is done on the basis of entrance examination followed by faculty interview.

Gurukul College M.Th Admission 2020

Gurukul Lutheran Theological College also offers Masters in Theology (M.Th) at the PG level. Students who wish to pursue M.Th from the institute must hold a B.Th degree from a recognized university with an aggregate of at least 60% marks or B Grade. Candidate with any academic qualification which is equivalent to B.D. with first/second class or B Grade is also eligible to apply.

For admission in this course, candidates have to appear for an entrance examination conducted by the college followed by Departmental and Faculty Interview.

Gurukul College D.Th Admission 2020

The Gurukul Lutheran Theological College also offers Doctorate of Theology program at the Research level. Students who wish to pursue D.Th course from the college must hold M.Th degree with First/High Second class with 65% or above and a work experience of minimum three years. Also, candidate whose academic qualification is equivalent in the opinion of Research Committee of the Senate of Serampore College.

Selection to the program is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination followed by interview conducted by interview committee.

The college also offers a diploma course in various areas of Dalit Theology, Women’s Studies and Theology of Human Development and Communication Studies to national and international students.

The minimum eligibility for admission in Diploma course is 10+2 examination from any recognized board. Selection is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.
