Extracurricular Activities:

Through participation in the activities of these associations students discover avenues for learning and building self-confidence. We have 13 Associations for this purpose:

• Economics Club aims at developing insight in the complex nature of economics’ problems and makes you aware of current problems of domestic and international economy.

National Service Scheme (N.S.S.):

“Service Before Self” Is The Motto Of The N.S.S. The Unit of our college attempts to ingrain this noble value among student volunteers. Projects on Literacy, Slum and Rural development, AIDS awareness, Child Labor, Problems of the Girl Child etc. have enabled our students to experience and feel first hand problems that confront our developing country.

National Cadet Corps. (N.C.C.)

This institution wishes to inculcate in our N.C.C. Cadets a healthy patriotic fervor fueled by unquestioned discipline and stamina. Most of our cadets have stood up to this motto and their excellent performance has resulted in their inclusion in many student-oriented programmes conducted by the Army, the Police force and the security services.

KJ Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce (KJSCAC) is a premiere educational institute located in Mumbai. It is an autonomous institution with A Grade accreditation by NAAC. The college has received UGC’s approval to run the courses under affiliation of the University of Mumbai.

KJSCAC offers various courses, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, in the disciplines of Arts and Commerce. K J Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce also features doctoral level courses in both disciplines. All the courses offered by the institute are approved by UGC, New Delhi.

• Applications filed only through University of Mumbai website via online mode are accepted for admission to the various courses.
• For Ph.D. admissions, applications are accepted only through offline mode.
• Candidates must contact the institute’s admission office for the purpose.
• The application fee can be paid via online payment modes such as credit/ debit card, net-banking etc., except for Ph.D. program, which can be paid in cash or demand draft.
• A pass is 10+2 or equivalent exam is essential for admission to any of the UG courses offered KJSCAC.
• For admission to M.Com program, only those candidates with a B.Com or equivalent degree in the commerce discipline are eligible.
• Similarly, Master’s degree in the relevant subject is required for admission to Ph.D. courses.
• Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET/ JRF/ TIFR are exempted from taking the entrance exam for Ph.D. candidates’ selection.
• Candidates for UG and PG courses are selected on the basis of marks obtained in the last qualifying exam.
• Ph.D. candidates are selected on the basis of entrance exam score and personal interview.
• Seats are reserved as per norms set by the University of Mumbai.

The courses that are currently being offered by the college include a BA program with specializations in various subjects, a regular B.Com. program, B.Com. with specializations in Banking & Insurance and Financial Markets, a Bachelor’s in Management Studies, and a Bachelor’s program in Mass Media.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to these courses is a pass in 10+2 or equivalent exam from a recognized institute or university. Selection of candidates for the UG programs in done on the basis of merit of 10+2 marks.

Key Points:

• Candidates with a diploma in Journalism/ Mass Communication/ any other relevant discipline are eligible to pursue B.M.M. program.
• Candidates appearing in the final year exam of their qualifying program are also eligible to apply.
• Management diploma holders are eligible for direct admission to B.M.S. program.

KJ Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce offers a Master’s in Commerce program at the postgraduate level. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to this program is a B.Com. degree from a recognized institute (or university) with 50% marks. Selection of candidates for the M.Com. program is on the basis of merit, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria specified for the program.

The College offers doctoral level program in the disciplines of Arts and Commerce. The institute currently offers Ph.D. programs in Gujarati and Hindi languages in the Arts discipline, and in Business Policy nd Administration for Commerce subject.

The basic eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programs is a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline/ subject with a minimum aggregate of 50 percentile marks. Selection of candidates is done on the basis of merit of entrance test marks secured by the applicants.

Aspiring Ph.D. scholars may reach the institute and obtain the physical copy of the application form for Ph.D. applications. The same must be submitted, duly filled, along with a research proposal and copies of relevant documents supporting his/ her eligibility. The application fee for Ph.D. programs can be paid in cash or demand drafts.

Key Points:

• All candidates, UGC-NET qualifiers and otherwise, are required to attend the personal interview session conducted after the entrance test.
• The final selection of Ph.D. candidates is based on the viability of his/ her research proposal, entrance test score and performance in the personal interview.

KJ Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce accepts applications to its various program through the University of Mumbai website as per the University guidelines. The application process in details is as follows:

• Candidates seeking admission to any of the courses offered by KJSCAC must visit the University of Mumbai website for online submission of applications.
• Candidate must then navigate to the online application page and create a Username and Password by clicking on the “Register” button. 
• All requisite particulars in the registration form must be filled correctly.
• The applicant must choose KJSCAC as the preferred choice of college in the registration form.
• After online submission of the application form, candidate must take printouts of the Submission Copy and the Student Copy.
• The submission copy has to be attached to the admission from of KJSCAC, and the Student Copy must be retained by candidate for future correspondence.
• The admission form for KJ Somaiya College of Arts and Commerce can be obtained by contacting the institute via post or in person.
• Candidate is required to enter valid phone number and email address for communication purpose.
