| The Objectives a) To provide access to higher education to large segments of population, particularly to those disadvantaged groups living in remote and rural areas, and working people, housewives and other adults who wish to upgrade or acquire knowledge and skills; b) To promote acquisition of knowledge and to continually offer opportunities for upgrading knowledge and skills in the con text of innovations, research" and discovery in all fields of human endeavour; c) To provide an innovative system of education at the University level which is flexible and open in its methods and pace of learning, combination of courses, eligibility for enrollment arid age of entry, with a view to promoting learning, d) To diversify and strengthen the degree, diploma certificate and courses relevant to national economy and employment opportunities, based on our natural and human resources; e) To contribute to the improvement of the education system in the region and develop all those courses which will develop higher education in the region; f) To provide education and training and undertake research in various fields of distance education. |
