Founded in the year 1956, Kurukshetra University (KUK) is among the premier institutions for higher education and research in Kurukshetra. The establishment was the vision of Sir Chandeshwar Prasad Narayan Singh, Punjab's then Governor.

It has accreditation from UGC and the university has a membership of a huge university network called Association of Commonwealth Universities. National Assessment and Accreditation Council have also presented KUK with A+ Grade. Ministry of Human Resource Development has ranked it at 8th position amongst the State Universities in the country.

The university began only with the Department of Sanskrit, later extending to other areas of study. Today, it has seven departments that offer 175 courses on the campus and several distance learning programmes. About 457 institutes and colleges in Haryana are affiliated to the university.

Kurukshetra University Admission Process

Centralised online admissions help the students secure admission at the university. They are required to fill an application form, which is available on KUK's official website.

A valid score in JEE is mandatory for undergraduate programmes in Engineering. For admission in MTech courses, the candidate must score well in the university-based entrance test or GATE. The admission to other post-graduation courses (MSc, MA, MBA, LLM, MPEd, MCom, MPEs, MCA and MSW) is based on the performance of the candidate in Common Entrance Examination (CEE).

The general recipients must have a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying degree for admission at KUK, while SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates require at least 47.50%.

Kurukshetra University Placement Trends

The placement cell of the university provides career guidance and job-related information to the students. The cell coordinates with the respective departments and organises campus interviews and placement drives to facilitate the interaction of the students with corporate professionals. The information about placement drives is displayed on the board outside the cell and the notice is also circulated across the concerned departments.
