Madras School of Economics was established in 1995 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The College is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.
MSE offers MA program in collaboration with the University of Tamil Nadu. The Central University of Tamil Nadu offers Integrated MA course of 5-year in collaboration with Madras University. Madras School of Economics also offers Ph.D. in Economics program with 5 specializations.
- For MA and Integrated MA course candidates shall fill the application form online and for Ph.D. program application form must be filled offline.
- Candidates applying for the Ph.D. program shall download the form from the website or collect it in person from the University of Madras.
- Applicants who have passed 10+2 with minimum 55% marks and have studied Mathematics as one of the compulsory subjects are eligible to get admission in MA program.
- Candidates who have completed 10+2 with not less than 60% marks and have studied Mathematics/ Economics with Business Mathematics are considered eligible to apply for admission to Integrated MA.
- Admission to MA/ Integrated MA program is given based on candidate’s merit in the CUCET and marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
- Minimum eligibility criteria for candidate who are seeking admission to the Ph.D. program is MA or MSc in Economics with at least 55% marks from a recognized University.
- Selection for Ph.D. admission is done on the basis of applicant’s marks obtained in Entrance Test and qualifying examination and performance in the Interview round.
- Candidates who have qualified UGC-JRF/ UCG-NET are exempted from the entrance test and are given preference during the admission.

Madras School Of Economics MA, Integrated MA Admission 2020
Madras School of Economics offers MA program with 5 specializations and 5-years Integrated MA in Economics program in collaboration with the Central University of Tamil Nadu. Candidates who have completed Graduation Degree course with 55% marks (50% for the non-creamy layer and 45% for SC/ST students) and have studied Mathematics at 10+2 level are considered eligible to get admission in MA program.
For Integrated MA course candidates who have passed 10+2 with minimum 60% aggregate marks (55% for OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST category) and have studied Mathematics/ Economics/ Business Mathematics are considered eligible.
Selection of candidate is done based on their marks scored in Common Entrance Test conducted across the country and admission is given through the counselling session conducted by the college.

Important Points:
- Actuarial Economics and Environmental Economics have 30 seats in each while the other three disciplines of MA program have the intake of 50 in each.
- Total intake of Integrated MA course is 50.
- The entrance test will have 100 questions and candidates will be given 120 minutes to answer those questions.
- The question paper will be divided into two parts i.e. Part A with 25 questions and Part B with 75 questions.
Madras School Of Economics Ph.D. Admission 2020
MSE offers full-time and part-time Ph.D. program with 5 specializations in collaboration with Madras University and the Central University of Tamil Nadu. Candidates with MA or MSc Degree in Economics from any recognized University in India or Abroad with not less than 55% marks are considered eligible for admission.
Selection of eligible candidate is done based on their merit in the entrance test conducted by Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) and marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Shortlisted candidates are called for personal interview and those who qualify this round are admitted in the course.

Key Points for Ph.D. Admission:
- Those candidates who have qualified UGC-JRF and NET are given preference and exempted from appearing in the entrance test.
- Students admitted through any mode other than UGC-JRF are provided a stipend of INR 20, 000 per month from MSE for 3-year.
