At the close of 20th Century when higher education seemed to be a dream for many aspirant village students, there ignited a feeling among the educationists of Thalaivasal area. In the early 21st century when education was still a luxury in rural areas, the ignited feeling of the educationists led to the formation of Kongu Trust with 25 Philanthropist to cater the needs of higher Education of boys and girls in and around Thalaivasal village.

The Kongu Trust was started in the year 2002. The main objective of the trust is to provide higher education with computer knowledge to all the down-trodden youth of villages in around Thalaivasal.

The Kongu Trust initially established as Paavendhar College of arts & science at Manivizhundhan south.

The Trust secured the approval of the Government of Tamilnadu vide G.O. MS.No.499 dated 22.09.2004. The college has been affiliated to Periyar University, Salem vide letter No.PU/R/3070/B3/2004 dated 29.10.2004.

The college came into existence during the Academic year2005-2006 offering 9 Under-Graduate and 4 Post-Graduate Courses. The college is functioning with wide infrastructure at Manivizhundhan south on the salem-Cuddalore NH 68 Main Road near Thalaivasal. The college admits students of all castes and creed.

It offers job-oriented UG&PG courses such as Administration, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Commerce, and Commerce with Computer Applications.

It has well-equipped library, laboratories and multi-terminal supporting latest servers with UNIX, LAN and WINDOWS with 100 terminals and well qualified teachers with dedicated spirit. The college encourages the programmes such as Cultural, Annual, Concovation, NSS, Educational Tour, Association function, Sports, Freshers day, Farewell etc.

Placement Cell

Besides providing sound education to the students, the management and staff work with a motto to place students in reputed companies. A placement cell has been activated in the college. It organizes campus interviews. Students are given all possible encouragements to take part in the interviews on and off the campus. It is worth mentioning that a quite a good number of students have succeeded in finding work opportunities at the highly reputed concerns like WIPRO, TCS etc
