Periyar University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1997. The university is named after a social reformer Thanthai Periyar. Periyar University imparts higher education at three levels, i.e., through its Departments of Study and Research, Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE) and the Affiliated Colleges. The selection is done on the basis of entrance test namely- TANCET which is conducted by Anna University. 

The university is recognized by UGC, New Delhi and is accredited by NAAC with A grade. It has 18 departments of study offering Post Graduate and Research Programs. The Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been introduced for the various courses offered by the University. Periyar University Admission

Periyar University Admission is through online mode. Candidates who wish to apply can submit the application form on the official website of the university. Applicants are advised to check eligibility before applying for the programs. Those who will successfully qualify the eligibility criteria can only apply for the admission.

The selection is done on the basis of merit of last qualifying examination. There are certain courses, students are selected on the basis of entrance test such as TANCET, MAT, CAT.

For admission to MBA, MCA, M.Ed. programs, students should have graduation degree with a valid TANCET/ MAT score. Listed candidates on the basis of their marks are considered for admission.

TANCET

TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) is a state-level exam organized by Anna University. The exam is conducted for admission to various post-graduation courses like M.E., M.Tech, MBA, MCA, M.Arch, and M.Plan. MAT

Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level entrance test, held for admissions to MBA/PGDM programs. Nearly 600 B- schools in India accept MAT Score. All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts MAT four times a year (February, May, September, and December). As per MAT Eligibility, students must have a graduation degree.

• It has 75,098 volumes of text and reference books on various disciplines.
• The library subscribes 203 National and International Journals, 118 Online Journals and 13 leading Newspapers.

Periyar University Admission 2020: UG & PG Admissions, Eligibility

Periyar University is a university in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1997. Periyar University imparts higher education through its Departments of Study and Research, Periyar Institute of Distance Education (PRIDE) and the Affiliated Colleges. The 29 departments offer research programs apart from postgraduate and some certificate programs. • Candidates can apply for the Ph.D. and Part-time programs online through the official website
• For M.Phil and Ph.D. Programs, Candidates must have completed post-graduation in the relevant stream. Selection will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
• Admission to all PG courses will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the graduate degree except for MBA & MCA

Periyar University PG Admissions 2020

At the PG level, Periyar University offers various courses to the candidates seeking admission in MA, M.Com. and M.Sc. courses. The duration of these courses is 2 years. In addition to this, the university also offers Master of Library and Information Science and its duration is 1 year.

Admission to MA, M.Com., and M.Sc. is done on the basis of the marks obtained till 5th semester at UG level. Passing in the 6th semester is mandatory.

Periyar University MBA, MCA And M.Ed Admissions 2020

Periyar university offers MCA (aided and self-supportive), MCA (aided and self-supportive lateral entry) and MBA to the students who seek to take admission at the postgraduate level. There are 71, 142 and 200 seats available for each program respectively. The duration for MCA (aided and self-supportive) is of three years and for the rest is two years.

For MCA, candidates need to appear in TANCET which is an online entrance examination for the mentioned course. Students who are willing to seek admission in MBA will need to appear either in TANCET or MAT followed by group discussion and personal interview.

Periyar University B.Ed And M.Ed Admission 2020

Periyar university offers courses in the stream of Education such as B.Ed and M.Ed. The duration for these two programs is of two years each.

B.Ed and M.Ed are merit based and students are selected on the basis of their marks obtained in entrance and qualifying exams.

Periyar University offers Distance Education courses to the students who are willing to seek admission at UG, PG Diploma and PG level.
