Located right in the centre of the city of Chennai is the Quaid-e-Millath Government College which was started in the mid 18th century as a school. Ghulam Ghouse Khan Bahadur, the then Nawab of Carnatic was the founder of this educational institute which became operational in 1974. Initially known as Government Mohamedan College, the College was rechristened as Government Arts College between 1948 and 1949. Considering the escalating demand for Girl Child Education, the Government Arts College was later converted into a college solely for females. In the honor of the then Muslim philanthropist and leader, the College was then renamed as Quaid-e-Millath Government College.

Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women is an autonomous college which offers 12 undergraduate, 3 vocational, 6 postgraduate and 3 research programs with affiliation to Madras University. Application process is common for all the UG and PG courses offered by the college.

• For Undergraduate Courses, the candidate must have passed the HSC (10+2) examination from a recognized board.
• The upper age limit to apply in any of these programs is 24 years (Physically Challenged applicants will be given the relaxation of 2 years).
• A Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline is mandatory to secure admission In the PG programs.
• Admissions are offered on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination followed by document verification at the college.
• For M.Phil and Ph.D. programs, the admission is completely based on the entrance examination.

Admission to various 3-year undergraduate programs of Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women is merit-based. The minimum qualification to apply for this program is a pass in Higher Secondary Examinations (10+2) with 50% (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC) marks and English as one of the main subjects from Tamil Nadu State Board or its equivalent.

• Admission to the B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. programs is done based upon the rules issued by the Tamil Nadu government.
• The college also offers UG programs under second shift in certain specializations.

Quaid-E-Millath College PG Admission 2020: M.A, M.Sc, M.Com & MCA

The college also offers admission to 2-year postgraduate programs in various specializations. The minimum qualification for this program is a Bachelor’s Degree with 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks for SC/ST/OBC) from University of Madras or its equivalent.

Key Points:

• For MCA program, the candidates who have cleared B.Sc. (Electronics & Communication/Computer Science) may apply for the Lateral Entry (2nd year) admissions.
• Age of applicants should not be more than 24-years to apply for PG program.

Quaid-E-Millath College M.Phil & Ph.D. Admission 2020

It offers full-time M.Phil and Ph.D. programs in various specializations at the research level. Final admissions are offered on the basis of marks in the entrance followed by the performance in interview. 

Key Points:

• There is a separate quota for reserved seats for Physically Handicapped, Sports, and Ex-serviceman candidates.

• Admission for Shift 1 and Shift 2 are done on the same day.

Quaid-E-Millath College Application Process 2020

Quaid-E-Millath Government College for Women invites a common application for all the courses. Candidates can apply by following the given steps:

1. Application forms can be obtained from the college’s office

2. along on the payment of INR 27 for General Category.
3. Fill the application form with all the required details.
4. SC/ST/OBC candidates may get the forms for free from the office on production of community certificate.
5. The candidates need to submit the application form within 10 working days to the college office after the declaration of the result.
6. Those who are applying under special quota must bring the sufficient proof in original form.
7. At the time of counselling, the candidates must carry the original documents along with the self-attested photocopies of the same.

• Graduation DMCs (if applicable)
