ABOUT COLLEGE

Sophia College, founded in 1941, is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. The Governing Body of the Society for the Higher Education of Women in India runs the College. The Religious Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and lay staff form the staff of the College.

• The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in France in 1800, by St. Madeleine Sophie Barat. It is dedicated mainly to the all-round education of youth
• The main building, which is a heritage structure, has been enlarged over the years to accommodate lecture halls, library and an audio-visual room
• A green oasis in the heart of a congested metropolis, the College has well-designed, airy buildings set around a beautiful central lawn, a terraced garden and a herbal garden

Sophia College for Women, Mumbai Admission 2020: Application process & Scholarship

Sophia College for women is situated in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was established in the year 1940 and is affiliated to University of Mumbai.

At the undergraduate level, Sophia College offers the courses BA, B.Sc. and BMM. At the post graduate level, the college offers the course M.Sc., Diploma courses like Diploma in Clinical Analysis (DCA), and PGDQA are offered to the students. Apart from this, Certification in Lab Management course is also taught at college.

• Candidates who wish to get admission in UG courses should have completed 10 + 2 or senior secondary education from a Board or University approved by the government of India with at least 50% marks in 10+2.

The college also offers Diploma and Certification courses to the students. Diploma at graduation level is DCA which stands for Diploma in Clinical Analysis. At the post graduate level, the students can also opt for PGDQA which is Post Graduate Diploma in Quality Assurance. The certification course offered is CLM which is Certification in Laboratory Management.

For DCA, candidate must pass B.Sc. / M.Sc. in relevant subjects, for PGDQA, candidates must pass B.Sc. degree and for CLM, candidate must pass BSc/ MSc/DCA/DMLT courses respectively.

Admission to these courses is done on the basis of interview.

The admission process for UG and PG courses is given below:

• The application forms are available only after the declaration of HSC and SSC results.
• Christian minority have to apply directly to the college by visiting the office.
• Other candidate have to apply online by visiting the official website of college.
• After admission is complete, student has to submit original plus photocopy of Passing certificate, Mark sheets and Migration certificate.
• After the admission is granted, the full fees is payable by the student.

Sophia College For Women Scholarship

Various scholarships are offered by Sophia College for Women, Mumbai.

• The Government of India issues scholarships for economically backward classes (EBC’s). EBC students can apply to avail these scholarships.
• Student belonging to Scheduled Caste or Schedule Tribe is eligible for full tuition fee relaxation provided she produces convincing documents at the time of admission.
• Students whose parents are teaching in primary or secondary schools in Maharashtra state are eligible to apply for scholarship. The student must have a first class in the SSC examinations.
• The college also provides outstanding awards to meritorious students.
