University Of Madras is a state university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 1857. It comes under one of the oldest universities in India.

University is a collegiate university. It has six campuses in the city namely

Madras University, a premium university in Tamil Nadu, offers admission to postgraduate, research as well as Diploma & Certificate courses in the field of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management. The university also offers UG courses through Distance Education. 

Madras University comprises 18 Schools along with 68 departments of post-graduate teaching and research. Madras University PG Admission 2020: M.Tech, MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Ed, ML, Master In Journalism & M.Lib.I.Sc

Madras University offers M.Tech, MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Ed, ML, Master in Journalism and M.Lib.I.Sc courses in various specializations at postgraduate level. Bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline is the minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Admission is offered on the basis of marks in the qualifying examination and score in the entrance tests conducted by the university.

Key Points:

• Admission of NRI & foreign students will be granted on the basis of their performance in the qualifying exam. The university provides full fee concession to physically challenged students including examination fee. These students have to produce a valid certificate with respect to their disability percentage.
• There is the provision of 40% relaxation in tuition fee for student belonging to SAARC countries although Sri Lankan Tamil students and Tibetan refugees have to pay the tuition and other course fees as decided for Indian students.
• Under LM, the candidate will be given maximum of of 5 years to complete the course from the date of enrolment in the course. 
• If the candidates have not applied for ML in the first year then they can re-register themselves only in the following academic year by paying an amount of INR 2000 or as prescribed. 

Madras University Application Process 2020

The university follows a common application process for PG, M.Phil, PG Diploma and Diploma courses. Follow the below-listed steps to apply online:

1. Visit the official website of Madras University.
2. Pay the application fee of INR 300 by SBI Collect.
3. Upload the scanned copies of required documents.
4. Submit and save the application form for future references.

For Master of Laws

For applying to Masters in Law, the candidate can fill the application in both – online or offline mode.

OFFLINE:

In Person – 

• Visit the “application sales counter” of the Chepauk Campus of the university. 
• Pay an amount of INR 200 in the form of cash at the counter for obtaining the application form.
• Pay an amount of INR 100 at the counter if you are a candidate of SC/ST community, on producing an attested photocopy of the community certificate. 

By Post – 

• Candidates can obtain application form by post also by sending a written requisition.
• On the requisition the candidate has to specify the name of the programme along with a Demand Draft of the amount INR 250 (which includes INR 200 for the form and INR 50 for the postage)drawn in favour of “The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai – 600005.

ONLINE:

• The candidate can also download the application form from the official website. 
• Fill all the details in the application form.
• Attach the form and send it along with a DD of INR 200 at the University address.
