Known to be among the oldest institutions in the country, Andhra University in Visakhapatnam is an open university which was established in 1926.

It is an open university founded by Sir C.R. Reddy. The university is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. This higher educational institute has a campus area of about 422 acres. The institution has established its campuses in 4 cities of the state: Etcherla,Kakinada, Tadepalligudem and Vizianagaram.

The university has an institute for distance education with 32 study centres across the state. It is considered as a teaching-cum-affiliate university. It began its operations with the College of Science and Technology, and later on, the institute introduced programmes in physics and chemistry.

Andhra University Admission Process

The university conducts two exams, each for admission in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, AUCET entrance examination and AUEET entrance exam. The university also considers national, state-level examinations and GATE examination rankings.The cut-off is set by the admission authorities of the institution. The admission is confirmed after counselling, on the basis of ranks secured in AP EAMCET.
