AUAT is a national level entrance exam conducted by Aliah University for offering admission to various UG, PG and five-year integrated courses. The exam comprise of objective type questions except for a few language courses.

  • The number of MCQs varied between 50 to 100 depending on course opted.
  • 5% reservation is taken into consideration for candidates from outside West Bengal.
  • A total number of 533 seats are available for UG courses, except BA Theology for which 1970 seats will be offered.
  • For PG courses, 1022 seats are available.
  • 30 seats will be offered for lateral entry into 2nd year while 620 seats will be provided for five-year integrated courses.

Aliah University carried the application process for AUAT 2020 from March 20 – April 20 for UG courses and MA Theology, and May 15 – June 15, 2020, for all the PG courses.

AUAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are advised to go through all the eligibility norms that will vary according to the course, before applying for AUAT 2020. The eligibility criteria for various courses are mentioned below the reference of candidates:


Residential Criteria

  • Candidates must be a resident of West Bengal for at least 10 years for applying in General Quota.
  • Residents of other states must necessarily apply under OS (Other State) quota.

Age Limit

  • Age limit for all UG courses (except BA Theology courses) and all five-year integrated courses is 22 years as on July 1, 2020.
  • Age limit for MA (Urdu, History, Geography, English, Bengali, Arabic), BA (Islamic Studies, Theology), M.Sc (Mathematics, Statistics & Informatics) and MCA CSE courses is 25 years as on July 1, 2020.
  • Age limit for M.M/MA Theology is 28 years as on July 1, 2020.
  • Age limit for M.Tech (CEN, ECE, CSE, EEN, and MEN) courses, LLM and MA/M.Sc Journalism & Mass Communication courses are 35 years as on July 1, 2020. 

Academic Qualifications

  1. B.Tech Courses (CEN, ECE, CSE, EEN, and MEN), Five-year Integrated BCA-MCA, and B.Sc-M.Sc in CSE
  • Candidate must clear 10+2 examination, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects, securing a minimum of 100 marks in total in each.
  • Candidate must clear 12th examination with aggregate 60% in PCM and 50% in Mathematics individually.
  1. Lateral entry to all B.Tech 2nd Year Courses
  • Candidate must clear Diploma in Engineering with aggregate 60% marks. 
  • Candidates appearing for the final examination of Engineering Diploma must have secured at least 45% first five semesters. 
  1. Five-year Integrated B.Sc-M.Sc (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Mathematics & Computing, Physics, Statistics & Informatics) courses
  • Candidate must clear 10+2 examination, with PCM as compulsory subjects, securing a minimum of 100 marks in total in each. 
  • Candidate must secure a minimum of 60% aggregate marks and 60% in a relevant subject. 
  1. Five-year Integrated BA-MA English BBA-MBA
  • Candidate must clear 10+2 examination, with a minimum of 100 aggregate marks (60% aggregate for BBA-MBA) and 50% in English. 
  1. Five-year Integrated BA-MA & B.Sc-M.Sc Geography
  • Candidate must clear 10+2 examination, with a minimum of 100 aggregate marks and 60% marks both in Geography and aggregate
  • For B.Sc-M.Sc, candidates must have cleared any two Science subjects, in addition to Geography, at Higher Secondary level
  1. MA/M.Sc Geography and MA (History, Arabic, Bengali, English, Urdu)
  • Candidate must clear Geography Hons or History Hons with a minimum of 45%
  1. All M.Tech Courses
  • Candidate must clear B.E/B. Tech in relevant discipline from an AICTE-approved institution, with at least 6.5 DGPA
  • Candidates who have passed/appeared for 7th-semester exams, with 6.5 CGPA until 6th semester
  1. MCA CSE
  • Candidate must clear B.Sc Hons/BCA from a recognized university, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject, securing a minimum of 45% aggregate marks
  1. M.Sc Mathematics
  • Candidate must clear a three-year degree course, securing at least 50% in Mathematics (Hons) or major subject
  1. M.Sc Statistics & Informatics
  • Candidate must clear a three-year degree course, securing at least 40% in Mathematics or Statistics
  1. LLM
  • Candidate must clear a three-year degree course, securing at least 45% in LLB
  1. BA (Arabic, Theology, Islamic Studies, Urdu)
  • Candidate must clear 10+2 examination, securing at least 45% marks in a relevant subject
  1. B.Sc Nursing
  • Candidate must clear 10+2 examination, with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCM) as compulsory subjects, securing a minimum of 100 marks in total in each
  • Candidate must clear 12th examination with aggregate 45% marks


AUAT 2020 Application Form

AUAT 2020 Application Form was made available for candidates through online mode only. Steps to successfully fill and submit the online application form are mentioned below:

  • Fill personal and correspondence details –

Candidate’s Name, Date of Birth, Quota (General, Physically Challenged, Other States), Category, Sex, Marital Status, Board/Council/University of the last examination passed Year of passing; Examination level passed, Permanent Address, Correspondence Address, Telephone, Mobile, etc.

  • Click on the ‘Submit’ button
  1. Upload Scanned Photograph and Signature
  • Upload passport size photograph with 200X200 pixels
  • Upload scanned signatures with 300X100 pixels
  • Images should be less than 200KB and in jpg, jpeg or png format only
  • Click on the ‘Submit’ button
  1. Choose Preferred Programmes
  • Candidate can select a maximum of three courses, depending upon fulfillment of eligibility criteria
  • The candidate will be given the option of selecting only those courses for which he/she is eligible in terms of age
  1. Choose Examination Center
  • The candidate will have to enter two examination venues in order of preference
  • Final examination center allotment decision rests with University, and no requisitions for change in exam venue will be entertained

AUAT 2020 Admit Card

AUAT 2020 Admit card can be downloaded from the official website of the University from the second week of May onwards for UG and MA Theology courses and from last week of June onwards for other PG courses. No hard copy of admit card will be sent to the candidate through courier or post. Candidates can download Admit Card using the following steps:

  • Go to the official website of Aliah University - aliah.ac.in
  • Click on ‘AUAT 2020’ tab on the topmost row
  • Click on ‘Click here to download Admit Card.’
  • Enter your Application ID and Date of Birth
  • Click on the ‘Login’ button
  • Admit card will appear on the screen
  • Candidate must download AUAT 2020 Admit Card
  • Take a print out of Admit card

AUAT 2020 Exam Center

AUAT 2020 was conducted at 16 towns spread across West Bengal. Allotment of exam center depends on complete discretion of conducting authority. Once allotted, the candidate cannot request a change in the exam center. The candidate will have to appear for AUAT 2020 at the allotted exam center only. 

AUAT 2020 Exam Pattern

Candidates need to carefully understand AUAT 2020 Exam Pattern to perform well in the examination. Examination pattern will differ across courses. Some of the important highlights are mentioned below:

  • AUAT 2020 was conducted in offline mode. 
  • The examination duration is 1 hour and 30 minutes for all UG and MM courses, and 2 hours for PG courses. 
  • AUAT 2020 will consist of 100 MCQs. 
  • There will be 2 sections in question paper – Part A and Part B. 
  • Part A for UG/MM courses will contain 10 MCQs (2 marks each), and Part B will contain 40 MCQs (2 marks each). 
  • Part A for PG programs will contain 25 MCQs (1 mark each), and Part B will contain 75 MCQs (1 mark each). 
  • Language courses might entail 20/25 marks descriptive questions. 
  • Questions will be asked in the English language, except for language courses. 
  • Candidate needs to mark one of the four answers given for each question on the OMR sheet.

AUAT 2020 Syllabus

Candidates must understand the syllabus for every course in order to facilitate their preparation. The syllabus for UG courses is based on 10+2 syllabus of state boards whereas the syllabus for postgraduate courses is based on the curriculum of undergraduate courses.

UG/MM Courses

  • Part A will contain 5 MCQs each from English and Islamic Studies
  • Part B for all B.Tech courses as well as 5-year Integrated BCA-MCA and B.Sc-M.Sc will contain 10 MCQs each from Physics and Chemistry and 20 MCQs from Mathematics
  • Part B for B.Sc-M.Sc (Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Mathematics & Computing, Physics, Statistics & Informatics) and BA (Arabic, Urdu, Theology) courses will contain 40 MCQs from relevant subjects
  • Part B for B.Sc Nursing will contain 10 MCQs each from Physics and Chemistry, and 20 MCQs from BA integrated course will contain 40 MCQs from Basic Mathematics, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, Commercial Arithmetic and elementary knowledge in the concerned field
  • Part B for MCA will contain 40 MCQs from Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation, Problem Solving Questions, Discrete Quantitative Analysis, and Basic Mathematics
  • Part B for Lateral entry into all B.Tech courses will contain 10 MCQs from Mathematics and 6 MCQs each from Basic computer Science, Strength of Material, Engineering Mechanics, Environmental Engineering and Basic Electrical Technology 0

PG Courses

  • Part A will contain 25 MCQs from English and Islamic Studies
  • Part B for all M.Tech courses MA (Urdu, Theology, History, Geography, English, Bengali, Arabic), M.Sc (Statistics & Informatics, Mathematics) and LLM courses will contain 75 MCQs on concerned subjects
  • Part B for MA/M.Sc Journalism & Mass Communication will contain 75 MCQs from Concept of English language and literature, Fundamentals of Journalism & Mass Communication having its role as the fourth pillar of Indian Democracy, Sports and Cinema

AUAT 2020 Result

AUAT 2020 Result has been released for UG course on the official website of Aliah University. Candidates can check their respective result on the official website. The result will be declared in the form of the rank list based on the marks secured by the candidate in AUAT 2020.
