GMAT Registration is open throughout the year for students to enroll whenever they are well prepared. This exam can be given up to five times a year which is held across 650 centers in 114 countries around the world.
GMAT Exam has a total of 80 questions to be completed in 3 hours and 30 minutes including the two optional breaks whose score is valid up to five years from the Exam Date. Top 25% of test takers are able to get an average score ranging between 650-800. The cost involved in giving the test is US $250.
It is a computer-adaptive test which adjusts its level of questions according to the candidate’s performance in the previous questions. GMAT 2020 EXAM CHANGES AND UPDATES
- The exam duration has been shortened by around 30 minutes with reduced number of questions in Quantitative and Verbal sections with other two sections unchanged.
- Students will no longer be given a pretest tutorial before starting the exam on Test Day.
- Instead an online tutorial of general information on GMAT exam is provided to be read at home within three of your actual test.
- 'Select Section Order' option gives students relaxation regarding the order of section which they first appear for.

GMAT 2020 Exam Dates
GMAC, conducting body of GMAT, does not assign any specific date for this exam making this process easy for students to choose exam date as per their convenience. As far as retaking of exam is concerned, you must have a gap of at least 16 days between two exams. This can be done five times a year and a maximum of eight exams in lifetime. On the other hand, if you have scored a perfect Total Score of 800, you must wait for at least five years to retake the exam. Candidates can also reschedule or cancel their exam by following a stepwise procedure out there.

What is a computer-adaptive test?
A computer-adaptive test is the one that adjusts to the level of a candidate’s ability. At the beginning of the test, a candidate is presented with questions of average difficulty. The difficulty level of the upcoming questions increases or decreases based on the candidates performances on previous questions. If a candidate answers the questions incorrectly, the difficulty level decreases. If a candidate is getting most of the questions correct, then the difficulty level of the next questions increases. This process continues until all the questions in every section is attempted.
Since the next question is generated based on a candidate’s performance in current question(s), one cannot revisit any previous question(s). It is mandatory to answer every question in order to proceed to the next question.
What is Executive Assessment Exam?
GMAC has recently introduced a new Mini GMAT called Executive Assessment Exam for Executive MBA course. This exam is designed for candidates willing to pursue E-MBA. The exam is of considerably shorter duration than the regular GMAT. The test is formulated to examine analytical and logical thinking abilities of the test takers, It is intended to judge suitability of the candidates for the E-MBA course.
How much does it cost to take GMAT?
Taking a GMAT exam costs US $250 worldwide. If any candidate wishes to reschedule the exam, they need to pay an additional fee of US $50. The GMAT Cancellation Fee is US $80.
What is the difference between GMAT and GRE?
- GMAT is the standardized test for top Business schools all across the world. Similar to GRE, the exam consists of a Verbal and Quantitative section.
- Unlike GRE, the two sections are combined to give a composite score of 800.
- GMAT cannot be used in place of the GRE, so unless a candidate is sure about making his way to a business school, they are adviced not to take GMAT Exam.
- GMAT is a test recognized by AICTE for PGDM and PGCM courses conducted by the respective State Governments for all institutions other than minority institutions across India. GRE is not.

There are certain eligibility criteria to be fulfilled to apply for GMAT as follows:
- Nationality - Any student can apply for this test regardless of which country he/she comes from. Refer this for Identification Requirements.
- Age Limit - A candidate must be atleast 18 years old. If in case, a candidate’s age lies between 13-17 years, then he/she must provide a written proof of guardian’s permission for taking GMAT test which should be sent to GMATParentalConsent@Pearson.com
- Academic Qualification - A student should be a graduate from recognized university in any field although GMAC has not set any minimum or maximum qualification to appear for GMAT.
- Work Experience - There is no specific requirement for you to be an experienced professional, a fresher can also go through this process. However, every B-school has it’s own method of evaluating a candidate’s application.

You can get yourself registered for GMAT at any time of the year but between 6 months to 24 hours of your planned date. Although its bit difficult to get slots at the last moment. You should try scheduling it at least 2 to 3 months in advance of your tentative test date so that there’s enough time for preparation.
How to register for GMAT?
GMAT registration can be done both online on the official website and offline on phone or by mail. If you are applying through phone, then call the GMAT Customer Service in your region which will be charging you an additional fee of US$ 10 whereas postal mail provides an option to apply via check or money order. Steps involved are:
- Gather information which is required to fill in application.
- Build the timeline as per your registration process.
- Schedule your exam and pay the registration fee
- Select your score receiving schools to which score would be shared.
- Review your details on the confirmation letter.

- Provide personal details and academic qualification
- Next step is choosing “test date and test location”.

GMAT Fees
Globally, the cost of taking GMAT is US $250 and that for rescheduling is US $50. An amount of US $80 is charged if you want to cancel your exam. GMAT fee can be paid through both online and offline mode as described below:

Note: If a credit card or debit card is not accepted, the registration will automatically be canceled and the candidate has to schedule for another appointment with a valid mode of payment.

The above-mentioned payment modes must be applicable to payable to Pearson-GMAT in US dollars.It should be drawn on a US bank. The amount paid must include the full amount including all the applicable taxes. The current date must be mentioned and signature, bank name along with the address should be appropriate. The cheque must be received at least 10 days before the date of the GMAT exam. In case, the cheque is returned due to insufficient funds in the account then Pearson VUE might incur a service fee from the account electronically. In such situation, the appointment will be terminated and you have to proceed for another scheduling of the GMAT exam.
Rescheduling and Retaking GMAT 2020
GMAC provide candidates with an option of canceling GMAT. For this, a candidate has to visit the official website and click on cancel GMAT exam. If candidates manage to do so by a given deadline, the partial fee will be refunded of US $80.

For rescheduling GMAT exam
Candidates can also reschedule their exam following the below-mentioned points

- Enter Login Id and Password.
- In case you are a new user then click on create an account.
- Enter the details – Name, Last Name, Email Id and Password and click on create a button
To reschedule, candidates have to pay the rescheduling fee as follows:-
- If you chose date more than 7 calendar dates of the previously scheduled test date then you have to pay US $ 50. For every rescheduling, candidates have to pay this amount
- If you chose date within 7 calendar days then you have to pay US $ 250
