Isabella Thoburn College Lucknow, was started in the year 1870 as a school but later on it expanded and on 12 July 1886 it was renamed as Lucknow Woman’s College with fine arts being the first branch with affiliation to university of Calcutta and later on to Allahabad university. In 1901 it was named as Isabella Thoburn College after Ms. Thoburn’s death. Now the college is affiliated to Lucknow University. It is the first Christian women college in Asia. The mission and vision of Isabella Thoburn College from the beginning continues to be, empowerment of women through education of the mind and the heart, an education that will develop skills and abilities and strengthen and enable them to take decisions in adversity.

The Isabella Thoburn College was formerly known as Lucknow Women’s College and often was called IT College informally. The College has been named after its founder, Isabella Thoburn and was established in the year 1886. On this day, the college is affiliated to the Lucknow University. There are five undergraduate programs provided by the college, Bachelor of BA, B.Sc, B.Ed, B.Li.Sc & B.Com. In addition to that, there are two postgraduate courses provided by the college, MA & M.Sc.

The college has recently released application dates for B.Ed program. The application forms for B.Ed for the academic session has now been made available  on the college. The application forms for M.A and M.Sc would be made available by the college from May 19, 201.8

The college offers UG & PG programs in several disciplines for which the application forms would be available in the college or one can also choose to get it through the post.

The college conducts an entrance exam to provide admission to PG programs. For UG courses, students have to maintain a good position in the merit list published by the college.

The admission into B.A, B.Sc and B.Com courses for the academic session for the women candidates would be done on the basis of an entrance test. The minimum eligibility required for getting admission into all these courses might be relaxed for the Christian candidates.

The application form along with the college prospectus would be available in the college after the college releases the dates for the same. The candidates can opt to get it from the counter itself for INR 600/- or even to choose to get it through the post for INR 650/-. The payments would be accepted in cash or through a bank draft in favor of the college.

The candidate can submit the filled form at the college on the mentioned dates or send it through post along with all the necessary enclosures to the college address. Along with the application form, candidates have to enclose a bank draft of INR 400 in favor of the designated bank. Candidates who wish to receive the admit card for the entrance test would have to pay an additional amount of INR 50 along with it. The entrance test fees in non-refundable under any circumstances.

The date and time of the test are printed on the admit card as well as on the admission form. The name of the test center would be mentioned there as well. The candidates can apply for one or more than one group on different application forms.

The entrance test question papers would consist of four sections depending upon the different groups.

All the candidates must have a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science with minimum aggregate marks of 50% from a recognized university.

The entrance test fee and all the other required documents should be enclosed with the form as well. The fees should be paid through a bank draft in the favor of the principal of the college. There would be three papers in the entrance examination.

All the questions asked in the entrance exam would be of objective type with four options of which the only one of them is correct. The candidate would have to choose the correct answer and put a cross-mark in the chosen box.

To be able to get admitted into the B.L.I.Sc course, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 48% marks in aggregate. All the eligible candidates would be required to appear for a written test which would be followed by an interview and it is on the basis of their performance, that they would be selected for admission.

An admission processing fee of INR 350 would be charged which would have to be deposited along with the application form through a bank draft in favor of the principal of the college. The candidate must be proficient in English to be able to get admitted.

Under the M.Sc and the M.A. program, the college offers various courses which the students can choose from.

All the candidates for the above-mentioned course would be selected on the basis of merit. The merit list would be displayed on the notice board of the college.
