Formerly known as Manipal University, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) is a highly-ranked private deemed university at Manipal in Udupi, Karnataka. The institution was originally established in 1953 by Dr Tonse Madhav Ananth Pai as the Manipal Institute of Technology.

In 1993, the current organizational structure of MAHE was formed when the University Grants Commission granted it the status of a deemed university. Further, the university operates two sister campuses in Jaipur and Sikkim as well as satellite campuses in Mangalore, Dubai, Pokhara (Nepal), Antigua (Caribbean) and Putra Nilai (Malaysia).

MAHE offers career-oriented educational programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels in humanities, life sciences, engineering, management, basic sciences, pharmacy, nursing, medicine, architecture, communication, hospitality and tourism, dentistry and allied health.

The candidates must fill and submit an online application form to secure admission at MAHE.

• Admission to all the programmes is granted based on the score in Manipal Entrance Test (MET) and qualifying examination. Those seeking admission in various BCom, BASLP and BSc programmes must have secured at least 50% marks in 12th standard.
• Candidates with a valid NATA score are eligible for BArch admission.
• The applicants with 55% or more marks in class 12th can apply for various BA programmes.
• Candidates with 50% or higher aggregate in grade 12 and qualifying degree are eligible for BTech and MTech, respectively.
• Applicants need at least 50% marks in chemistry, physics and biology to be eligible for MMBS.

MAHE has a strong reputation for providing the highest number of campus placements to students, with almost 1500 graduates getting placed every year. MAHE offers a range of scholarships to its meritorious students to encourage academic excellence, under the categories mentioned below:

• It awards Free-Ship and Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship to its BDS and MBBS students based on their All India NEET ranks, while MET rank is considered for BTech and BPharm students. The scholarship is given at the time of admission for the first-year and is continued only if the candidates manage to obtain at least 65% marks in semester examinations.
• It offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to lateral entry BTech students from Polytechnic Institutions of Manipal Group.
• It awards Kadambi Scholarship to two final-year students of engineering, medical and dental science based on both sports and academic performance.
• MAHE grants merit-cum-means Scholarships to nursing students with 85% and above marks in 12th standard, based on the income of their parents (maximum Rs 5 lakh per annum).
• ITC Scholarship worth Rs 3.5 lakh, sponsored by ITC Hotel Limited, is granted to students excelling in Bachelor of Hotel Management.
• It offers scholarships to students who have studied in AGE Colleges and speak Konkani language.
