The minimum eligibility required to appear for any one of the exams conducted is a Bacehlor’s degree. There may be some additional eligibility criteria depending upon the post or recruitment exam, a candidate wishes to apply for. UPSC mainly conducts the recruitment process in three phases – Preliminary exam, Main exam, and Interview.

UPSC Recruitment Eligibility 2019
Eligibility in UPSC Recruitment 2019 varies with the exams. Basic academic qualification of most of the exams is Graduation from any recognized university. However, there are few exams that demand graduation in a particular field/stream as part of the eligibility.

UPSC Registration 2019
The registration for all the exams under UPSC is done at upsc.gov.in. The applications will release as per the dates mentioned in the UPSC 2019 Calendar. The registration should be completed before the last date. No applications will be accepted after the last date. Notices and advertisement will be regularly published by UPSC in the leading newspapers and weekly employment news. UPSC will notify the candidates about dates and other important information regarding the exam.
To ensure smooth UPSC 2019 Registration process, candidates must ensure that they have following documents (as required) before beginning with their UPSC Application Process.

- Class XII Marksheet
- Graduation Marksheet
- Category Certificate, if applicable
- Medical Certificate, if applicable

Number of Attempts in UPSC?
The number of attempts in UPSC exam varies on the basis of category of the candidate as follows :-
- A General category can appear for UPSC maximum 6 times and the maximum age limit is 32 years.
- An OBC category candidate can take the exam maximum 9 times and maximum age is 35 years.
- For Physically disabled candidates there is relaxation of 10 years. They are given 9 attempts for clearing UPSC.
- A SC/ST category candidate can appear as many as times till 37 years of age.
UPSC Syllabus 2019
The syllabus of each exam under UPSC is announced along with the notification. However, UPSC syllabus for all exams is similar in many ways. The General Science section/paper is asked in most of the exams. While some exams focus on the technical aptitude, other exams give weightage to Current Affairs and General Knowledge.
UPSC Result 2019
UPSC will release the result as per the dates mentioned in calendar above. The result for all the exams will be published at the official website i.e. upsc.gov.in. The result will be published in the form of score cards. The merit list displaying the names of all shortlisted candidates will be published soon after the announcement of result at the official website. The shortlisted candidates will be invited for next level of selection process as mentioned in the UPSC notification.
UPSC Recruitment 2019 Selection Process
Qualified candidates of the written result are called for next level of the selection process – Group Discussions/Personal Interview. The selection process varies with the exam and the posts offered. However, most of the recruitment posts follow the mentioned selection process:
Group Discussion
Candidates are made to sit in batches of 20 or more to discuss any topic assigned by the person in charge. The topics vary from any recent global activity to problems faced by society. Total of 15-25 minutes are allotted to the candidates to discuss the topic among themselves. At the end of the discussion, candidates are asked to submit their response verbally one after another.
Personal Interview
Following the group discussion, Personal Interview of candidates is conducted. The Personal Interview is conducted to test candidates’ confidence, thought process and clarity of mind. UPSC entrusts the shortlisted candidates with a very responsible position. Hence it is necessary to test candidates of their mental and physical strength required for the job.
UPSC Recruitment Medical Test 2019
As per the job requirements, UPSC asks candidates to go through a medical test before publishing final merit list. The result of the medical tests is considered while preparing the final merit list. All the qualified candidates of the written exam followed by interview is required to undergo medical test, and the results are submitted to UPSC for further proceedings. All the qualified candidates are required to undergo following test at the allotted medical centre.
- Blood Test
- Urine Test
- Mental Stability (Session of Stress Interview)
- Opthalmic Test & BMI Measurement
- Chest X Ray followed by test for several other disorders.
