About College

The Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) is located in Bengaluru, capital of Karnataka. It was founded in the year 1979. The campus is built on twenty- nine acres of land. This college is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), located in Belagavi, also in Karnataka. This affiliation ensures approval of the UGC (University Grants Commission). The college is named after the founder of the same- - Shri R. Dayananda Sagar. He had established the Mahatma Gandhi Vidhya Peetha (MGVP) Education Trust, in the year 1960, to spread the word of education among the people. The trust also runs the Sagar Hospitals.

A twenty- eight educational institutions are run under the Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) banner. The DSCE has also been accredited by the NAAC (National Assessments and Accreditation Council), earning an A grade rating in it. A separate IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell) has been created to this end, to ensure that all the terms of the NAAC are complied with. An AQAR (Annual Quality Assurance Report) gets generated to quantify the results. The tech courses in the institute are recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). There are a wide variety of courses, on offer here at the DSCE.

These courses are available at the UG as well as PG levels. At the undergrad level, B.E. programmes are available for the engineering areas of- Aeronautical, Automobile, Biotechnology, Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Information Science, Medical Electronics, Construction Technology, Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Telecommunication and for Electronics & Communication. There is also one for Industrial Engineering and Management. At the master’s level, the courses get more technical. So, the M. E. programmes are available for the areas of- Structural Engineering, Design Engineering, Computer Network Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Highway Technology, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and for Digital Electronics & Communication.

The ME may also be availed in the areas of Digital Communication & Networking, VLSI Design & Embedded Systems, Power Electronics and in Micro Electronics & Control System. Besides these, the professional courses of MBA and MCA may also be taken up at the master’s stage. There is also a Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities. This takes care of the fundamental sciences of physics, chemistry and mathematics, plus the language courses. Admissions to the engineering programmes is via the KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) at the UG level, and the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) for the M. Tech.

The CAT (Common Admission Test) and MAT (Management Aptitude Test) examinations are considered for the MBA programme. Another area of much importance to the institute is entrepreneurship. This is why the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) has been an active forum here. It helps develop the budding entrepreneurs among the students for the institute. Experienced trainers and entrepreneurs are invited to campus to deliver guest lectures and interact with those who have such business models. The college has always believed in providing benefits to the broader society. The students here have likewise been instilled with such value. And that is why the students of this college have been active participants in government schemes such as the NSS (National Service Scheme).

The campus has much to offer. There are hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Banking facilities with ATM are available in the campus’s vicinity. There is a sports field where cricket and football may be played. Facilities are also there for indoor sports. The gymnasium may also be used by all. A large auditorium is there to facilitate major events, at both intra and inter-college level. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Science laboratories have the latest of equipment. A health center is also there to cater to medical emergencies. Hygienic food is prepared at the college cafeteria. The college even has its own transport to ferry students to and from the campus. A convenience store is also located within the campus.

Research too plays a crucial role here. The faculty of the DSCE has been involved in central level research with the VTU itself. The library here is one of the best stocked within the region. Besides the physical books on display, it also provides digital access to en number of international academic journals for research and academic purposes. Another major development here is the Centre for Innovation and Leadership. Several guest lectures by experts and industrial visits by this cell help make students more employable. This has a direct knock-on effect on-campus hiring, which has picked up over the recent seasons.

Some of the top recruiters in the recent seasons have been the likes of- Accenture, TCS, CTS, Infosys, L&T, IBM, Convergys, Wipro, KPMG, EY, Capgemini, Mahindra Comviva, Religare, Quest Global, KPIT, Oracle, IQVIA, India Mart, Robert Bosch, HPE, ESDS, Zycus, Tally, Mercedes Benz, MFX, Byju, BOXB, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail, Texas Instruments, Bandhan Bank, Indus Ind Bank, Karvy, Mphasis, Cipla, THBS, AVEVA, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance, Hire Pro, Philips, NTT Data, HUL, Paytm, Toshiba, Volvo, HFFC, Dell and several more. The DSCE’s rankings have also been fairly impressive. The NIRF (National Institutional Rankings Framework) has placed the college at rank 127th all India among engineering colleges.
